Type 2 Diabetic Patients Fasting on Ramadan in Israel.

BACKGROUND: Fasting during Ramadan is not mandatory for diabetic patients, but the majority of type 2 diabetic patients insist on fasting despite the potential risks. These patients represent a challenge not only for themselves, but also for healthcare practitioners during this period. This review provides, for the first time, healthcare practitioners in Israel with guidelines and recommendations that fit the Muslim population for better management of diabetic patients who fast during Ramadan, taking into consideration recently published recommendations and therapies available in Israel.
