Pituitary Apoplexy After Initial Leuprolide Injection.

BACKGROUND: Pituitary apoplexy is a rare complication of the initial administration of leuprolide acetate.
CASE DESCRIPTION: We present the case of a 63-year-old man who experienced headache, blurred vision, and loss of consciousness after initial leuprolide treatment for prostate carcinoma. Neuroimaging showed pituitary hemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinicians should be aware of this rare but known complication of leuprolide injection so that prompt diagnosis and treatment initiation are performed in patients with leuprolide-associated pituitary apoplexy.
