During the wound tissue healing process, the relatively weak driving forces of tissue barriers and concentration gradients lead to a slow and inefficient penetration of bioactive substances into the wound area, consequently showing an impact on the effectiveness of deep wound healing. To overcome these challenges, we constructed biocompatible CaO2 -Cu2 O "micromotors". These micromotors reacted with the fluids at the wound site, releasing oxygen bubbles and propelling particles deep into the wound tissue. In vitro experimental results revealed that these micromotors not only exhibited antibacterial and hemostatic functions but also facilitated the migration of dermal fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells, while modulating the inflammatory microenvironment...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection and compromised immunity are the severe complications associated with implantation surgery in diabetes mellitus. Enhancing the antibacterial and immunomodulatory properties of implants represents an effective approach to improve the osseointegration of implant in diabetes mellitus. Herein, guanidination carbon dots (GCDs) with antibacterial and immunoregulatory functions were synthesized. The GCDs demonstrated killing effect on MRSA without detectable induced resistance...

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is widely acknowledged as one of the most serious public health threats facing the world, yet the private sector finds it challenging to generate much-needed medicines. As an alternative discovery approach, a small array of diarylimidazoles was screened against the ESKAPE pathogens, and the results were made publicly available through the Open Source Antibiotics (OSA) consortium (https://github.com/opensourceantibiotics). Of the 18 compounds tested (at 32 μg/mL), 15 showed >90% growth inhibition activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) alone...

Herein, an injectable, antibacterial, self-expanding, and self-propelling hydrogel bioadhesive with procoagulant activity and rapid gelation is reported. This hydrogel combines spontaneous gas foaming and rapid Schiff base crosslinking for lethal massive hemorrhage. Wound infections in combat settings present unique challenges because of the size and depth of the wounds, the need to administer emergency care in the field, and the need for subsequent treatment in military facilities. Multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria cause severe clinical infections and a high mortality rate of over 40% in patients with immunodeficiencies. Therefore, more effective, broad-spectrum, and accurate treatment for severe cases of infection is urgently needed. Here, we present an adoptive transfer of macrophages loaded with a near-infrared photosensitizer (Lyso700D) in lysosomes to boost innate immunity and capture and eliminate bacteria through a photodynamic effect. In this design, the macrophages can track and capture bacteria into the lysosomes through innate immunity, thereby delivering the photosensitizer to the bacteria within a single lysosome, maximizing the photodynamic effect and minimizing the side effects...
