The interaction between radionuclides and nanomaterials could generate Cerenkov radiation (CR) for CR-induced photodynamic therapy (PDT) without requirement of external light excitation. However, the relatively weak CR interaction leaves clinicians uncertain about the benefits of this new type of PDT.
