BACKGROUND: Heart rate, measured as beat-to-beat intervals, is not constant and varies in time. This property is known as heart rate variability (HRV) and it has been investigated in several diseases, including myocardial infarction (MI). The main hypothesis is that HRV embed some physiological processes that are characteristics of regulatory systems acting on cardiovascular system. It is possible to quantify such a complex behaviour starting from RR intervals properties itself with the idea that any event affecting the cardiac regulatory system significantly will disrupt and change HRV...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Coronary chronic total occlusion (CTO) is the last stage of coronary artery atherosclerosis. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a therapeutic procedure used to recanalize vessels with total occlusion. However, successful recanalization of CTO is still not optimal, and the key influence factors are still uncertainty. Therefore, a scientific evaluation on the effective of PCI for CTO treatment is necessary. METHODS: Relevant studies of PCI treatment for CTO were examined...

OBJECTIVE: The objective of the study was to determine whether women significantly have more frequently right ventricular infarction than men. METHODS: The study population consisted of consecutive patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who underwent primary percutaneous intervention. The following criteria were used for the diagnosis of right ventricular infarction: ST-segment elevation in one of the right precordial leads V4R-V6R for equal or more than 1 mm together with ST-segment elevation in at least two contiguous inferior leads...

Optimal revascularization strategy in patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease remains a matter of debate, with advantages and disadvantages in both surgical and percutaneous procedures. A combined approach to achieve coronary revascularization, termed "hybrid coronary revascularization" (HCR), has been recently introduced in clinical practice. HCR is defined as a scheduled combination of surgical left internal mammary artery to left anterior descending (LIMA-LAD) grafting and percutaneous treatment of at least one non-LAD coronary arteries, with both procedures planned and performed within a defined time limit...

In the setting of heart failure (HF) pharmacotherapy demonstrates a quantifiable improvement in exercise tolerance also in HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). For patients with HFpEF, often older, with higher prevalence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation and other comorbidities, endpoints such as quality of life and functional capacity may be more clinically relevant. However several study show as the use of ACE-I and B-blocker were lesser than expected. Beta-blocker therapy is the keystone of pharmacotherapy of HF patients and exercise training is the essential core of rehabilitation programs, it is important to elucidate the relationship between these therapies...
