Development of the Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections Control Precautions Scale.

The purpose of this methodological study was to develop a measure to be used for the evaluation of health professionals' knowledge and attitudes about catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) control precautions. Results indicated the total score of the scale, and correlation values ranged between 0.479 and 0.748. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value was found to be .886, which indicates the adequacy of the sample, and Barlett's test results indicated correlation between the items (p < .01). Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was found to be .75. The developed CAUTI Control Precautions Scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool that could be used in assessing health professionals' knowledge and attitudes toward CAUTI control precautions.
