Helicobacter pylori growth stimulation by adrenaline detected by two methods.

Our aim was to assess growth effects of adrenaline on 32 Helicobacter pylori strains on 2.5% blood agar. By agar-well diffusion and disk diffusion methods, concentration-dependent growth stimulation occurred in ≤50.0% and 36.8% of the strains, respectively. Growth inhibition was less frequent. Most strains were adrenaline-responsive and growth stimulation prevailed.
