There are many definitions of health, resulting from 4 main paradigms. The patient has much to say about his/her own health. The exploration of the concept, to be considered as a resource, more than the purpose of life, gives light on operational ways to support individual and public health by exploring patient's values, empowering patients, reinforcing autonomy, social networks and equity.
