Transition Issues and Challenges for Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Earlier detection and effective, evidence-based practices are gradually improving outcomes for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Although some continue to need intensive support as adults, an increasing number are now going to college, becoming independent, and marrying. With the transition to adulthood, people with ASD will face a number of significant challenges. Health care providers who are knowledgeable about these challenges can help foster better outcomes and support those requiring higher levels of care.
