[The use of computed tomography in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis].

AIM: To present the use of computed tomography in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study was conducted in 139 patients who were hospitalized with suspected acute appendicitis. However, the diagnosis was not clearly confirmed by clinical and ultrasonic data.
RESULTS: Computed tomography confirmed/rejected presumptive diagnosis in 90.8% of patients. It was concluded that CT has high diagnostic accuracy to confirm acute appendicitis.
