Consent in orthodontics is a complex and ever-changing topic, and the importance of achieving informed consent before any examination or procedure is carried out is paramount. This article will discuss some key points when considering the correct way of achieving informed consent, highlight some areas of difficulty when managing the consent process with younger children and also aim to clarify the differences between the level of consent necessary in orthodontics compared to dentistry as a whole.
