[More investigated for osteoporosis after the introduction of a fracture liaison service].

Läkartidningen 2016 November 2
The aim of this retrospective study was to review the effect of a fracture liaison service (FLS) in terms of assessment and treatment of osteoporosis. An FLS is a model of care for improving the secondary preventive care of these patients. An FLS was started at Halland Hospital Halmstad in October 2013. In this study we evaluated the effect of the FLS on the follow up of patients with wrist fractures. In total 126 patients were included, equally divided in two groups before and after the implementation of the FLS. With the FLS 36 % underwent DXA compared to 6 % before the FLS, and the share of patients receiving treatment for osteoporosis increased from 8 % to 24 %.
