Cationic dirhodium(ii,ii) complexes for the electrocatalytic reduction of CO 2 to HCOOH.
Chemical Communications : Chem Comm 2016 October 7
Two formamidinate bridged dirhodium(ii,ii) complexes with chelating diimine ligands L, [Rh2 (μ-DTolF)2 (L)2 ]2+ , were shown to electrocatalytically reduce CO2 in the presence of H2 O. Analysis of the reaction mixture and headspace following bulk electrolysis revealed H2 and HCOOH as the major products. The variation in relative product formation is discussed.
