[294-POS]: Maternal circulating blood volume and cardiac output in pregnancy induced hypertension.

OBJECTIVES: To document maternal hemodynamics of pregnancy induced hypertension (PIH), maternal circulating blood volume and cardiac output was evaluated.
METHODS: The objects were 120 singleton pregnancies including 60 cases with PIH who underwent cesarean section during March, 2000 to April, 2007. Among 60 cases of PIH, 48 cases were classified into preeclampsia (PE) and 12 cases were classified into gestational hypertension (GH). The circulating blood volume (BV) and cardiac output (CO) were measured using the DDG analyzer just before delivery.
RESULTS: The BV showed significant differences among was normotensive group, GH and PE respectively (5.3±1.3, 4.9±1.1 and 4.4±1.2L, p<0.05). However, CO did not show any difference between these groups. Level of serum uric acid showed significant negative correlation with maternal BV in PE group (p<0.05), but it did not show any significant correlation in GH group.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data revealed that maternal BV is decreased especially in PE comparing with GH. The management of these diseases should be arranged according to its unique hemodynamics.
