Airway pressure release ventilation and respiratory failure during pregnancy. A report of three cases.
Journal of Reproductive Medicine 2015 January
BACKGROUND: Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a rare complication during pregnancy but remains dificult to manage, with a high incidence of maternal mortality.
CASES: We present 3 cases of respiratory failure and severe pulmonary disease managed with airway pressure release ventilation, among other ventilatory modes, with improved ventilation.
CONCLUSION: Airway pressure release ventilation may be an important option as a ventilatory mode for management of maternal respiratory failure during pregnancy.
