[Hypertension in children].

Measuring blood pressure is more difficult in children than in adults and requires special blood pressure cuffs. Hypertension is defined by values established according to sex and height. A cause must always be sought; it will most often be renovascular. Essential hypertension is exceptional in children younger than 7 years, but is increasingly frequent in adolescents because of the growing prevalence of obesity. Hypertension in newborns and babies is often revealed by heart failure.
