INTRODUCTION: Simultaneous pregnancy in each uterine cavity of a double uterus is unusual but is a recognized risk factor for preterm labour and other poor obstetrics outcomes. The work has been reported in line with the SCARE criteria. PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report an unusual case of simultaneous pregnancy in each uterine cavity of a double uterus in a young African grand multipara who presented with a retained second twin following a preterm labour at home. DISCUSSION: A double or didelphys uterus as reported in the literatures is still uncommon even in Africa...

INTRODUCTION: Intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL) is a rare smooth muscle tumor, usually found in women with tumors of the reproductive organs, such as uterus myomatosous. Surgically, this case belies the call for sternotomy and two-stage surgery in caval IVL extending to the right atrium: we suggest one-stage median laparotomy as a minimal procedure with maximal benefit. PRESENTATION OF CASE: We present the case of a 60-year-old postmenopausal woman with suspected intravenous leiomyomatosis of the right internal iliac vein...

OBJECTIVES: Because, to date in France, 20 % of pregnant women had a scared uterus and because the best mean of cervical ripening is unknown and controversial, we want to evaluate efficacy and safety of dinoprostone for cervical ripening in women with previous cesarean. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective unicentric study, from 2010 to 2014, at Limoges regional university hospitals. Two hundred and sixty nine patients, with medical indication for induction of labor and scared uterus, were included and ripened with dinoprostone (Propess(®) and/or Prostine(®))...

SETTING: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Teaching Hospital in Prague and First Medical School, Charles University. CASE REPORT: We demonstrate the risk of uterine dehiscence on the example of 36 year-old woman with two previous caesarean sections who decided to give birth spontaneously...

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the incidence and pregnant outcome on vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). METHODS: From January 2005 to December 2015, clinical data of 507 cases with VBAC in West China Second Hospital were studied retrospectively. There were 370 cases of VBAC from January 2013 to December 2015 as study group (VBAC group), in contrast, 740 cases of elective repeat cesarean section (ERCS group) and 740 primiparas of vaginal delivery without history of cesarean section as control groups, the pregnancy outcome were analyzed between the study group and control groups respectively...

Panax ginseng (GS) and Veratrum nigrum (VN) are representative of incompatible pairs in "eighteen antagonistic medicaments" that have been recorded in the Chinese medicinal literature for over 2,000 years. However, evidence linking interference effects with combination use is scare. Based on the estrogen-like effect of GS described in our previous studies, we undertake a characterization of the interaction on estrogenic activity of GS and VN using in vivo models of immature and ovariectomized (OVX) mice and in vitro studies with MCF-7 cells for further mechanism...

Rupture of the gravid uterus is an obstetric catastrophe that is associated with complications that include massive blood loss, hysterectomy, and damage to the genitourinary tract. It is a serious complication that is associated with high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. We conducted a retrospective review of case notes (from 2003 to 2009) to determine the incidence, causes, complications and foetal/maternal outcome among women with a diagnosis of ruptured uterus at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam Tanzania...

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate, for women with scared uterus, the mechanical cervical ripening with balloon catheter. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of our practice of ripening for scared uterus from january 2010 to august 2012. Feasibility, Bishop's score, birth modalities and complications for mothers and babies during this ripening were studied. RESULTS: Thirty-nine medical files were analysed. All patients could have mechanical ripening independently of the internal os status (open or not)...

The uterine tissue of three healthy nonpregnant goats was evaluated experimentally as a graft for closure of a bladder defect. Goats were subjected to ovariectomy, and then one detubularized uterine horn was used as a graft to close a large defect in the ventral aspect of the bladder. Follow up included monthly radiographic and ultrasonographic examinations and evaluations of kidney function and electrolytes changes for six months. The goats were euthanized after six months, and both the bladder and the graft were examined macroscopically and histologically...

Muscular tumors in scared abdominal wall in a woman are unfrequent reason of counselling. In rare case these tumors are the result of ectopic graft of endometrial cells after abdominal or pelvic surgery with or without opening of uterus cavity. We report the case of a not typical abdominal wall endometrioma in the rectus abdominis muscle without variation of signs and volume related to menstruation ; Diagnosis was made by histological examination after carcinological excision because of recurrence and degeneration risk...

BACKGROUND: During these last two decades, the practitioners are more and more confronted to pregnancies on scar womb. AIM: To analyse the behaviour to be held in front of a scar womb and to estimate materno-foetal preview after childbirth (delivery) by vaginal delivery or after a caesarean section at cold. METHODS: It is about a retrospective study held over 123 cases of patients with a scar womb who gave birth in the department "C" of the CMNT over a period of 2 years...

AIM: Magnesium sulfate, mainly used in obstetrics to treat eclamptic convulsions, is currently questioned as to its clinical tocolytic effect. We aimed to study the relaxant action (if any) of magnesium sulfate on in vitro pregnant and non-pregnant myometrium. METHODS: Myometrial strips, harvested from five pregnant women (35-39 gestational weeks) during Cesarean procedures indicated for dystocia or scared uterus and five non-pregnant women during hysterectomy or myomectomy for benign conditions, were placed in a Krebs-Henseleit solution organ bath and the isometric force was registered...

To extract a foetus which presents chronic suffering in high risk pregnancy, the determination of pulmonary maturity leads to take the decision. Among the complementary analysis to determine the pulmonary maturity, we used of Clements test (CT) which realization is easy and the results rapid. The objectives of this paper were to evaluate the pulmonary maturity with CT, to establish correlation between CT and breathing distress syndrome at birth and to determine the validity of CT about new born vitals parameters...

We present a retrospective study of 1235 deliveries in scarred uterus. The aim of this study is to analyse the materno-fetal mortality and morbidity after caesarean section and a trial vaginal delivery. Uterine challenge has been tried is 578 cases with success in 12.14%. The global rate of real uterine rupture is 1.3% and of scare opening is 3.16%. The trial vaginal birth was complicated by uterine rupture in 5.9% versus 2.89% in planned caesarean section. (P = 0.00967). The length of hospitalization, the number of blood transfusion and the rate of puerperal infections are lower in the vaginal delivery trial group...

Maternal mortality is a significant public health problem. In Yemen it is attributable to socioeconomic, reproductive, health-status and health-services factors, as well as to medical causes. Direct obstetrical causes account for 61% of maternal deaths in Yemen 75% after delivery. Hemorrhage has been found as the second cause of maternal death in Yemen, accounting for 23.68% of all causes, while ruptured uterus accounts for 14.19% of maternal deaths in particular. The high percentage of ruptured uterus as a cause of maternal mortality prompted me to report the case below hoping it would shed light on the influence of factors, which can lead to this serious situations in Yemen...

We examined 282 pregnant women who have had one or more previous cesarean sections. The localization of placenta was done with ultrasound after 32 weeks of gestation. The control group consists of 1560 pregnant women without previous operative births. Placenta praevia is found in 3.9% in patients with previous cesarean sections and in 0.45% in the control group. The bleeding in the group of placenta praevia after previous operative births is observed in 44.4% against 28.5% when the placenta praevia is in intact uterus...
