The reaction mechanisms of the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to CO catalyzed by [(en)M(CO)3 Cl] complexes (M = Ru, Os, en = ethylenediamine) in the presence of triethanolamine (TEOA), R3 N (R = -CH2 CH2 OH), in DCM and DMF solvents, were studied by means of DFT/TDDFT electronic structure calculations. The geometric and free energy reaction profiles for two possible reaction pathways were calculated. Both reaction pathways studied, start with the 17e- , catalytically active intermediate, [(en)M(CO)3 ]˙+ generated from the first triplet excited state, T1 upon reductive quenching by TEOA which acts as a sacrificial electron donor...

Bone defect and repair is a common but difficult problem in restorative and reconstructive surgery. Bone tissue defects of different sizes caused by different reasons bring functional limitations and cosmetic deformities to patients. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), a major hotspot in the field of regeneration in recent years, have been widely used in various studies on bone tissue regeneration. Numerous studies have shown that the bone regenerative effects of MSC can be achieved through exosome-delivered messages...

In the current study, we synthesized nanocellulose (NCF)-collagen (Col)-nano hydroxyapatite (NHA) organic-inorganic hybrid aerogels loaded with stromal cell derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and sclerostin monoclonal antibody (SOST McAb) and investigated their ability to repair steroid-induced osteonecrosis. Rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and human vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) were used for the in vitro study. A rabbit steroid-induced osteonecrosis model was used for the in vivo study. The best elastic modulus reached 12...

Fas ligand (FasL) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily involved in the activation of apoptosis. Assuming that apoptosis is initiated after tooth extraction it is reasonable to suggest that FasL may play a pivotal role in the healing of extraction sockets. Herein, we tested the hypothesis of whether the lack of FasL impairs the healing of extraction sockets. To this end, we extracted upper right incisors of FasL knockout (KO) mice and their wildtype (WT) littermates. After a healing period of two weeks, bone volume over total volume (BV/TV) via µCT and descriptive histological analyses were performed...

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an inflammatory cutaneous disorder. The advancements in the understanding of AD immunological pathogenesis have caused the development of therapies that suppress the dysregulated immune response. We aimed to evaluate the immunomodulatory effect of dental stem cells (dental follicle-mesenchymal stem cells [DF-MSCs]) on AD patients. Materials & methods: We investigated the immunoregulatory potential of DF-MSCs on T cell response in AD and compared them with psoriasis and healthy individuals and the underlying mechanisms...

Biocompatible materials applied in guided bone regeneration are needed to prevent leakage caused by the invasion of peripheral epithelium. (2.1) The aim of this study is to develop a thermosensitive in situ gel system containing alendronate sodium loaded PLGA nanoparticles and alendronate sodium loaded membranes for guided bone regeneration. Thermosensitive Pluronic F127 gel system was preferred to prevent soft tissue migration to the defect site and prolong the residence time of the nanoparticles in this region...

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this review is to evaluate the potential role of medicinal plants in the bone regenaration. METHODS/DESIGN: This review has included relevant studies available in MEDLINE-PubMed in the last three years that associated the role of plants in the bone regeneration...

INTRODUCTION: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (Darrier-Ferrand sarcoma, DFSP) is an uncommon tumor. This sarcoma has a tendency to local recurrence, requiring a wide surgical resection. OBSERVATION: We report herein two cases of patients presenting with recurrent dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans after several surgical resections. A wide surgical resection with guided tissue regenaration has been performed in one case, whereas the second case required a skin graft...

Transformation of epithelial cells into connective tissue cells (epithelial-mesenchymal transition, EMT) is a complex mechanism involved in tumor metastasis, and in normal embryogenesis, while type II EMT is mainly associated with inflammatory events and tissue regenaration. In this study we examined type II EMT at the ultrastructural and molecular level during the inflammatory process induced by Freund's adjuvant treatment in rat mesenteric mesothelial cells. We found that upon the inflammatory stimulus mesothelial cells lost contact with the basal lamina and with each other, and were transformed into spindle-shaped cells...

A plant transformation vector, pCLKSCLA25 (EU327498), was developed to contain eight cloning sites and the inducible self-excision system which provided an effective approach to eliminate the selectable marker gene(s) from transgenic plants. Upon induction by salicylic acid, the cre gene produced a recombinase that eliminated sequences encoding the selectable marker neomycin phosphotransferase and cre itself. The excision efficiency was 41% in transgenic tomato regenarants. The stilbene synthase gene (vst1) from Vitis vinifera L...

In these experiments, while the ion exchange membrane was anion-exchange membrane, acid solutions were used as an anolyte and different salts of potassium were used as a catholyte. In addition to these experiments, while the ion exchange membrane was cation-exchange membrane, base solutions were used as a catholyte and different salts of potassium were used as an anolyte...

Glutamine is an important conditionally necessary amino acid in human body. The effort is to establish a new and high efficient L-glutamine production system instead of traditional fermentaion. In this paper, high efficiency of L-glutamine production is obtained by coupling genetic engineered bacterial glutamine synthetase (GS) with yeast alcoholic fermentation system. Glutamine Synthetase gene (glnA) was amplified from Bacillus subtilis genomic DNA with primers designed according to sequences reported in EMBL data bank, then it was inserted into expression vector PET28b, the sequence of glnA was proved to be the same as that reported in the data bank by DNA sequencing...
