Na3 V2 (PO4 )3 (NVP) has attracted considerable attention as a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). But its insufficient electronic conductivity, limited capacities, and fragile structure hinder its extended application, particularly in scenarios involving rapid charging and prolonged cycling. A hybrid cathode material has been developed to integrate both amorphous and crystalline phases, with the objective of improving the rate performance and Na storage capacity by leveraging bi-phase coordination...

The characterization of structure of organic salts in complex mixtures has been a difficult problem in analytical chemistry. In the analysis of Scutellariae Radix (SR), the pharmacopoeia of many countries stipulates that the quality control component is baicalin (≥9% by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)). The component with highest response in SR was also baicalin detected by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). However, in the attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the carbonyl peak of glucuronic acid of baicalin did not appear in SR...

14 N NMR of magnetically oriented microcrystals is reported. With a home-built 1 H-13 C-14 N probe capable of modulating the rotation of the sample around the axis normal to the magnetic field, magnetically oriented microcrystal suspension (MOMS) of l-alanine is made. 14 N NMR spectra acquired with various timings during intermittent rotation lead to a rotation pattern of the MOMS similar to that of a single crystal. The effect of orientational distribution of the microcrystals to broadening of the resonance line is discussed...

This review gives an overview of current trends in the investigation of confined molecules such as water, small and higher alcohols, carbonic acids, ethylene glycol, and non-ionic surfactants, such as polyethylene glycol or Triton-X, as guest molecules in neat and functionalized mesoporous silica materials employing solid-state NMR spectroscopy, supported by calorimetry and molecular dynamics simulations. The combination of steric interactions, hydrogen bonds, and hydrophobic and hydrophilic interactions results in a fascinating phase behavior in the confinement...

This study reports on a metal-free Covalent Triazine Framework (CTF) incorporating bithiophene structural units (TP-CTF) with a semicrystalline structure as an efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst under visible light irradiation. The physico-chemical properties and composition of this material was confirmed via different characterization solid-state techniques, such as XRD, TGA, CO2 adsorption and FT-IR, NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopies. The compound was synthesized through a solvothermal process and was explored as a heterogeneous photocatalyst for the oxidative coupling of amines to imines under visible light irradiation...

Polyurethane elastomers are among the most versatile classes of industrial polymers-typically achieved through a two-step synthesis of segmented block copolymers, comprising very long and soft segments that provide elasticity and significantly long and hard segments that provide strength. The present research focused on the design of a single-step synthesis of a new segmented polyurethane consisting of very short soft and hard segments, crosslinked by preferentially side-reacted hierarchical tertiary oligo-uret network structures, thus exhibiting significant strength, elasticity, and toughness...

The increasing population, food demand, waste management concerns, and the search for sustainable alternatives to plastic polymers have led researchers to explore the potential of waste materials. This study focused on a waste of pine nut processing referred to in this paper as pine nut skin. For the first time, its nutritional profile, potential bioactive peptide, contaminants, and morphological structure were assessed. Pine nut skin was composed mainly of carbohydrates (56.2%) and fiber (27.5%). The fat (9...

The viral positive-sense single-stranded RNA encodes 31 proteins among which the spike (S) is undoubtedly the best known. Recently, protein E has been reputed as a potential pharmacological target as well. It is essential for the assembly and release of the virions in the cell. The NMR lineshapes produced by half-integer quadrupolar nuclei are sensitive to 11 distinct fit parameters per inequivalent site. To date, automatic fitting routines have failed to replace manual parameter insertion and evaluation due to the importance of local minima and the need for fitting multiple-field magic-angle spinning (MAS) and static spectra simultaneously. Herein we introduce a new tool, AMES-Fit (Automatic Multiple Experiment Simulation and Fitting), to automatically find the global best-fit simulation parameters for a series of multiple-field NMR lineshapes...

Co-crystals are considered as a new form of an old drug entity. Co-crystals improve the stability, hygroscopicity, solubility, dissolution, and physicochemical properties of pure drugs without altering chemical and pharmacological properties. Advancement in co-crystal formulation methods like electrospray and laser-irradiation methods are showing potential for solvent-free co-crystallization and tends to give better yield and lesser loss of materials...

Nowadays, the search for new chemotherapeutic agents with low toxicity and high selectivity is a major concern. In this paper, we report the synthesis and characterization of a hybrid thiosemicarbazone/hydrazone ligand in its neutral form (L1 H2 ) and as the chloride salt ([L1 H3 ]Cl)-, three diorganotin (IV) complexes, and one complex with Sn (IV). The compounds have been fully characterized by IR, mass spectra, 1 H, 13 C, and 119 Sn NMR, 119 Sn CP/MAS NMR, and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The organotin compounds have the empirical formula [SnR2 L1 ] ( R  = Me, Bu, and Ph), but in the solid state, they are polymeric species with seven coordination number due to weak coordination of the pyridine nitrogen, whereas in solution, the polymeric structure is lost to afford hexacoordinate monomeric species...

Poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of compounds with uses in industry and many consumer products. Concerns about the potential health effects of these compounds resulted in regulation by the Stockholm Convention on the use of three of the most common PFAS, including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). Thousands of PFAS remain in production that are unregulated and for which their toxicity is unknown. Our group recently identified a new class of PFAS, fluorotelomer ethoxylates (FTEOs), in indoor dust and industrial wastewater...

The relaxation behavior is often analyzed by assuming exponential behavior or, equivalently, a single T 1 time constant. However, the spin-lattice relaxation of spin I = 3/2 nuclei, such as 7 Li, is in general biexponential; this is a fundamental property of I = 3/2 nuclei and unrelated to any compartmentalization within the solid...
