Eutrophication has led to the widespread occurrence of cyanobacterial blooms. Toxic cyanobacterial blooms with high concentrations of microcystins (MCs) have been identified in the Lalla Takerkoust reservoir in Morocco. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the Multi-Soil-Layering (MSL) ecotechnology in removing natural cyanobacterial blooms from the lake. Two MSL pilots were used in rectangular glass tanks (60 × 10 × 70 cm). They consisted of permeable layers (PLs) made of pozzolan and a soil mixture layer (SML) containing local soil, ferrous metal, charcoal and sawdust...

The European Green Deal encourages the use of non-productive activities in agriculture. One of the measures is the cultivation of melliferous floral plants at the field margins. Their influence on soil compaction and other deterioration is due to heavy machinery, its inappropriate use and frequent driving on field margins, is little studied. Plants of a high environmental value though rarely grown by farmers were selected for melliferous plant strips: perennial grass swards (PGS), perennial legume swards (PLS), annual floral plats mixture (AEP) and natural grassland swards (NGS)...

Endophytic fungi live asymptomatically inside vegetal tissues, and such uncommon habitat contributes to their exceptional chemical diversity. Isolating natural products from endophytic fungi could fail due to silent biosynthetic gene clusters under ordinary in vitro culture conditions, and co-culturing has been assayed to trigger their metabolism. We carried out single and dual cultures with 13 endophyte strains isolated from Euphorbia umbellata leaves. Multivariate statistics applied to untargeted metabolomics compared the chemical profiles of all endophyte cultures...

The volatile compounds in Dacha liquor (DL) and Ercha liquor (EL) from Niulanshan Erguotou Baijiu (NEB) were analyzed. The results demonstrated that a total of 34 odorants were identified. For the first time, the products of different brewing stages were analyzed using temperature-programmed headspace gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry (TP-HS-GC-IMS). The 3D fingerprint obtained revealed that the compounds exhibited different change patterns during the brewing process. Furthermore, the results of principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) revealed that hexanal, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, trans-2-pentenal, and ethyl hexanoate could be used to distinguish different types of fermented grains; and hexanal, 1-pentanol, methyl isovalerate, isoamyl acetate, 3-hydroxy-2-butanone, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl acetate, ethyl 2-methylbutanoate, and ethyl pentanoate could be used to distinguish different types of distilled spirits...
