High spectral resolution mid-IR observations of ethylene (C2H4) towards the AGB star IRC+10216 were obtained using the Texas Echelon Cross Echelle Spectrograph (TEXES) at the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility (IRTF). Eighty ro-vibrational lines from the 10.5 µm vibrational mode ν7 with J ≲ 30 were detected in absorption. The observed lines are divided into two groups with rotational temperatures of 105 and 400 K (warm and hot lines). The warm lines peak at ≃ -14 km s(-1) with respect to the systemic velocity, suggesting that they are mostly formed outwards from ≃ 20R⋆...

In the phase III LYM-3002 study comparing intravenous VR-CAP with R-CHOP in patients with newly-diagnosed, measurable stage II-IV mantle cell lymphoma, not considered, or ineligible for, transplant, median progression-free survival was significantly improved with VR-CAP (24.7 vs R-CHOP 14.4 months; P<0.001). This post-hoc analysis evaluated the association between the improved outcomes and quality of responses achieved with VR-CAP versus R-CHOP in LYM-3002. Patients were randomized to 6-8 21-day cycles of VR-CAP or R-CHOP...

Falls and diminished walking capacity are impairments common in persons with transfemoral amputation (TFA). Reducing falls and optimizing walking capacity through such means as achieving a more normal gait speed and community ambulation should be considered when formulating the prosthetic prescription. Because walking capacity and balance confidence are compromised with TFA, these outcomes should be considered when evaluating interfaces for transfemoral prosthetic users. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of TFA interface design on walking capacity and balance confidence A retrospective cohort design was utilized involving unilateral TFA patients who used ischial ramus containment (IRC) and High-Fidelity (HiFi) interfaces (independent variables)...

CONTEXT: A discrepancy exists between the abundance of ammonia (NH3) derived previously for the circumstellar envelope (CSE) of IRC+10216 from far-IR submillimeter rotational lines and that inferred from radio inversion or mid-infrared (MIR) absorption transitions. AIMS: To address the discrepancy described above, new high-resolution far-infrared (FIR) observations of both ortho- and para-NH3 transitions toward IRC+10216 were obtained with Herschel, with the goal of determining the ammonia abundance and constraining the distribution of NH3 in the envelope of IRC+10216...

CDC25 phosphatases play a crucial role in cell cycle regulation. They have been found to be over-expressed in various human tumours and to be valuable targets for cancer treatment. Here, we report the first model of binding of the most potent CDC25 inhibitor to date, the bis-quinone IRC-083864, into CDC25B obtained by combining molecular modeling and NMR studies. Our study provides new insights into key interactions of the catalytic site inhibitor and CDC25B in the absence of any available experimental structure of CDC25 with a bound catalytic site inhibitor...

PURPOSE: Different placements of Infrared Cameras (IRC) in CT and treatment rooms can cause gating window level (GWL) variations leading to differences between GWL used for planning and treatments. Although, Varian Clinac DHX-OBI sytem and CT are equipped with the same kind of IRC, Truebeam STx (TB) has a different type of IRC known as banana type. In this study; geometric and dosimetric accuracy of respiratory management system (RPM) for different machines were investigated with a special homemade phantom...

The Kohn-Sham density functional theory (DFT) formalism has been used to investigate the influence of the stationary behavior of the electron density (ρ(r⃗;s)) along a minimum energy path on the corresponding stationary conditions observed in the total potential energy of the reactive system, information theory measures (Shannon information entropy and Onicescu information energy), and chemical reactivity indexes (the chemical hardness). The theoretical treatment presented in this work, combined with DFT calculations on 3 different test reactions: Ḣ' + H2, Ḣ' + CH4 and H(-) + CH4, suggest that for any reactive system, properties that can be cast as a functional of the electron density, must exhibit stationary points along the IRC path modulated by the corresponding stationary behavior of the electron density...

The EMG and load relationship is commonly measured with multiple submaximal isometric contractions. This method is both time consuming and may introduce fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine if the electromyography (EMG) amplitude from the middle deltoid was reliable during isometric ramp contractions (IRCs) at different angles of elevation and rates of force application. Surface EMG was measured at three shoulder elevation angles during IRCs at four submaximal levels of maximum voluntary contraction (MVC)...

The curse of dimensionality still remains as the central challenge of molecular quantum dynamical calculations. Either compromises on the accuracy of the potential landscape have to be made or methods must be used that reduce the dimensionality of the configuration space of molecular systems to a low dimensional one. For dynamic approaches such as grid-based wave packet dynamics that are confined to a small number of degrees of freedom this dimensionality reduction can become a major part of the overall problem...

We report an original method that provides a new insight into the reaction mechanism by direct observation of bond breaking and formation. Variations of the diagonal elements of the Hessian along the IRC are shown to reflect the anharmonic properties of the system that are induced by electron density modifications upon the reaction. This information is presented in the form of the reaction spectrum, demonstrating how particular atoms engage in the reorganization of bonds. The test reactions are: HCOF synthesis and HONS isomerization...

OBJECTIVES: Chronic impaired renal function (IRC) constitutes a major risk factor of morbi-mortality during the treatment of an abdominal aortic aneurism (AAA). The inflammatory state due to the AAA could result in a reduction in the muscular mass and an over-estimation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) with the usual formulas. The objective of this study was to determine if the formulae used to evaluate the estimated GFR were adapted in patients with AAA. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between August 2013 and November 2014, we conducted an exploratory study to evaluate the renal function before surgery for AAA in 28 patients...

The kinetic-energy dependences of the reactions M(+) + CO where M(+) = Re(+), Os(+), and Ir(+) are studied using guided ion-beam tandem mass spectrometry. Formation of both MO(+) and MC(+) was observed in endothermic processes for all three metals. Modeling of the data provides thresholds that yield 0 K bond dissociation energies (BDEs, in eV) of 4.67 ± 0.09 (Re(+)-O), 4.82 ± 0.14 (Os(+)-O), 4.25 ± 0.11 (Ir(+)-O), 5.13 ± 0.12 (Re(+)-C), 6.14 ± 0.14 (Os(+)-C), and 6.58 ± 0.12 (Ir(+)-C). These BDEs agree well with literature values within experimental uncertainties demonstrating that ground state products are formed for all cases even though some of the reactions are formally spin forbidden...

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) in adolescence has well documented effects on social competence. Few studies have examined the effects of behavioral interventions on social competence or identified factors associated with changes in social competence after injury. Research Method/Design: Adolescents with moderate to severe TBI ages 12-17 years were randomized within 6 months of injury to either a problem solving and communication (CAPS) group that received online counseling (n = 65) or an Internet resources comparison (IRC) group (n = 67) for a comparative effectiveness trial...

Recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA) is a common cause of infertility, but previous attempts at identifying RSA causative genes have been relatively unsuccessful. Such failure to describe RSA aetiological genes might be explained by the fact that reproductive phenotypes should be considered as quantitative traits resulting from the intricate interaction of numerous genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors. Here, we studied an interspecific recombinant congenic strain (IRCS) of Mus musculus from the C57BL6/J strain of mice harbouring an approximate 5 Mb DNA fragment from chromosome 13 from Mus spretus mice (66H-MMU13 strain), with a high rate of embryonic resorption (ER)...

Interpretation of endpoints (e.g. overall response rate) in clinical trials depends on the accurate and reliable measurement and identification of tumors. Regulatory agencies recommend blinded reviews of imaging data by independent review committees (IRCs). Differences in response outcomes that arise between IRCs and site investigators raise regulatory/sponsor concerns. Here, we evaluate discrepant tumor response assessments by the IRC and unblinded investigators (complete versus partial response, respectively) occurring in 52 (13% of 393 IRC-assessed responders) of 447 enrolled patients with treatment-naïve non-Hodgkin lymphoma from a randomized study...
