The effects of scymnol, chimaerol and sodium scymnol sulfate, prepared from the bile of Rhizoprionodon acutus, on cerebral anoxia were investigated in experimental models of hypoxia, ischemia and histotoxic anoxia in mice. Scymnol, at a dose of 100 mg/kg, showed a significant protective action against cerebral anoxia in all of the models studied and significantly increased the partial oxygen pressure of the arterial blood.
