INTRODUCTION: In our institution we've had a lot of exerience in proctology. Ten years ago, we introduced one day surgery in our practice and had really good results in treating practically all patients who needed proctologic surgery. MATERIALS, METHODS AND RESULTS: During this period of time 9.636 out of 73.235 outpatient cases were chosen for surgery. Among them, 2664 were patients with operations of perianal haematomas. We had some experiences with minor anal surgery (excisions of skin tags in 537 patients, excisions of papillas in 545 patients); patients with haemorrhoids, operated classically on Milligan-Morgan procedure (1116) or by the new PPH-- Longo procedure (270) and HAL technique (12)...

Presented herein are the long-term results of femoropopliteal reconstructions above the knee joint fisure in patients with atherosclerotic lesion of the femoropopliteal segment using Gore-Tex grafts. The retrospective study accrued 108 patients. Of these, IIB degree lower limb ischemia (according to the A.V. Pokrovsky classification) was initially present in 64 (60.2%) and critical ischemia in 52 (40.8%) patients. Patients suffering from lower limb ischemia of varying degree did not significantly differ in the age or coexistent diseases...

The cerebellar cortices of foetal rats were examined for structural changes occurring prior to the formation of fissures. Female rats were mated overnight and the first day on which a sperm-positive vaginal smear was found was designated as embryonic day 1 (E1). Birth of rats generally occurs on day E23. Foetuses from days E19 to 22 were fixed by perfusion followed by immersion, using a mixture of glutaraldehyde and paraformaldehyde, and their cerebella embedded in plastic. The cerebella of thirty-five foetuses were sectioned sagittally at intervals of 100 micron, and those of five were sectioned coronally...

The toxicity of pit and fisure sealants implanted into the subcutaneous tissues of guinea pigs was tested using the protocol for toxicity testing derived from the ADA/ANSI Document No. 41, 1982. The materials tested were Delton autopolymerized and photopolymerized, and Concise White autopolymerized and photopolymerized. After two weeks, reactive fibrosis and mild to moderately severe foreign body reactions were noted. After 12 weeks, only thin fibrous walls infiltrated occasionally by small numbers of chronic inflammatory cells were observed...

X-ray investigations were carried out on 10 three-month-old and 10 six-month-old calves (each group consisting of 5 male and 5 female animals) of the Sofia Brown cattle breed in order to obtain and study the normal roentgenologic picture of the bone-and-joint apparatus of the limbs. It was established that in this breed's calves the contours of the bones are clearly delineated and assume an angular configuration after the age of three months, which later on becomes more pronouncedly expressed. At the insertion points of the tendo-ligamentous apparatus there appear in the distal parts of the bones, in a volar and plantar aspect an uneveness, which is likewise more strongly manifested with the advance in age...
