With the increasing use of low level laser therapy (LLLT) in clinical dentistry, the aim of the present study was to assess the effectiveness of diode lasers in the management of orofacial pain. Indexed databases were searched without language and time restrictions up to and including July 2016 using different combinations of the following key words: oral, low level laser therapy, dental, pain, diode lasers, discomfort and analgesia. Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) is a rare disease characterized by a triad of relapsing or persistent orofacial edema, recurrent lower motor neuron facial nerve palsy and fissured tongue. Acute, painless, non-erythematosus orofacial edema is observed in all patients. We report a case of a 13-year-old girl who presented with a 2-year history of swelling of the upper lip, facial paralysis, and fissured tongue; she was treated successfully with dapsone.

This study examined c-Fos expression in selected brain areas consequent to intraperitoneal (IP) administration of saccharin and lithium chloride. Rats were tested for aversion to the saccharin as measured by flavor consumption and orofacial reactions in the taste reactivity (TR) test.
