At present, the commonly used clinical protocols of oral cosmetic restoration are mostly based on the oral aesthetic indexes proposed by Western developed countries (referred to as Western aesthetics), which are different from the oral aesthetic indexes unique to Chinese people (referred to as Chinese aesthetics). In the design of restoration schemes and the evaluation of restoration effects, these differences have a large or small effect on the doctor-patient-technology triad. Improper handling could directly weaken the cooperation efficiency of the three parties, reduce patient satisfaction, and even lead to medical disputes in serious cases...

Background Needle stick injuries caused by various sharp and other items like hypodermic needles and intravenous cannulas are important occupational hazards for healthcare workers (HCW). Preventing injuries is the most effective way to protect workers and requires good awareness and perceptions associated with practice on a daily basis. Therefore, we did a descriptive cross-sectional study involving healthcare workers in a tertiary care hospital to find the level of awareness, perception, and practice associated with needle stick injury and its prevention...

Hinduism is considered one of the most ancient religions in the world. Although the technological innovation of modernization has undermined the reliance on their traditions, Hindus may still rely on Hindu Scripture when making decisions. From their standpoint, contrary to Western medicine, human lives cannot be reduced to statistical and empirical facts. They focus more on preserving the spirit, rather than considering survival as one of the goals of medicine. Consequently, when a preterm infant is born, Hindu parents might struggle to understand the goals of Western neonatologists...

BACKGROUND: Patient satisfaction remains a key area of interest worldwide; utilizing a patient-centered communication approach, particularly with patients with chronic life-limiting illnesses may be one way to achieve this. However, there is a dearth of empirical information on the effect of patient-centered communication strategies in patients with chronic life-limiting illnesses in Kenya on patient satisfaction. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to assess the impact of patient-centered communication on patient satisfaction...

The use of Remote Consultations (RCs) in primary care expanded rapidly during the Covid-19 pandemic: their ongoing use highlights a need to improve experiences of them. We interviewed 17 adults in the UK, including a sub-sample of five people with a First Language other than English (FLotE). Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis identified five major themes: (1) RCs are convenient, but they require appropriate technology and appropriate conditions of use; (2) even those with good general eHealth literacy and connectivity may struggle with systems that are not user-friendly; (3) greater reliance on verbal communication was experience as limiting empathy, and also made RCs more difficult for people with a FLotE; (4) RCs are considered inappropriate for complex conditions, or those with major psychological components; (5) continuity of care is important, but is often lacking...

Analysis of the latent categories of joy in work of doctors in public hospitals and the differences in the characteristics of each category can help uncover hidden messages that enhance doctors' joy in work. Ten years after its introduction, an evaluation is to be carried out, focusing on the treatment satisfaction of patients and their relatives as well as the extent to which the model has proved successful in urban versus rural care contexts. METHODS: In a multicenter cohort study, in 2019/20, from a total of 36 palliative care regions, 12 - 4 metropolitan, mixed and rural each - were randomly selected, with 20 palliative patients each...

BACKGROUND: With the continuous development of deep learning algorithms in the field of medical images, models for medical image processing based on convolutional neural networks have made great progress. Since medical images of rectal tumors are characterized by specific morphological features and complex edges that differ from natural images, achieving good segmentation results often requires a higher level of enrichment through the utilization of semantic features. PURPOSE: The efficiency of feature extraction and utilization has been improved to some extent through enhanced hardware arithmetic and deeper networks in most models...

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant tumor that occurs in the epithelium and mucosal glands of the nasopharynx, and its pathological type is mostly poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Since the nasopharynx is located deep in the head and neck, early diagnosis and timely treatment are critical to patient survival. However, nasopharyngeal carcinoma tumors are small in size and vary widely in shape, and it is also a challenge for experienced doctors to delineate tumor contours. In addition, due to the special location of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, complex treatments such as radiotherapy or surgical resection are often required, so accurate pathological diagnosis is also very important for the selection of treatment options...

BACKGROUND: Serum iron, an essential component of hemoglobin (Hb) synthesis in vivo, is a crucial parameter for evaluating the body's iron storage and metabolism capacity. Iron deficiency leads to reduced Hb synthesis in red blood cells and smaller red blood cell volume, ultimately resulting in iron-deficiency anemia. Although serum iron cannot independently evaluate iron storage or metabolism ability, it can reflect iron concentration in vivo and serve as a good predictor of iron-deficiency anemia...

In this report we describe the implementation of a new electricity supply system at Mulanje Mission Hospital, Malawi, which integrates the use of grid electricity, solar-generated electricity and battery back-up. To realize the system, suppliers from several countries had to be used and external expertise and funding were vital. The completed system provides reliable and good quality electricity to all departments in the hospital, prioritizing essential equipment when needed. Implementation of the system has reduced cost of electricity bills by 60%, ended black-outs and extended longevity of electrical equipment...
