OBJECTIVE: During reproductive age of a woman, endometrium undergoes frequent stuctural and functional changes. Abilities of regeneration, remodelation and differentiation are precondition of endometrial receptivity and implantation and development of an embryo. These processes are conditioned by mutual transformation between mesenchymal and epithelial fenotype of endometrial cells: epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET). The aim of this study is to present contemporary knowledge of transformation between epithelial and mesenchymal endometrial cells and its influence on human fertility...

Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is an often complication of ovarian induction after ART methods, sometimes in cases of multiple pregnancies and trofoblastic disease. Spontaneous ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is unusual in normal single pregnancies. The publications, where recurrent spontaneous OHSS is described, are extremely rare. The analysis of these publications was done and we report next rare case of spontaneous recurrent OHSS.

The nomenclature used to describe findings during early pregnancy in The Netherlands needs to be revised. Various terms, like 'abortion' and 'miscarriage', are used to describe the same phenomenon, which is confusing for both patients and doctors. In addition, the meaning of some terms, like 'missed abortion', has changed over time. In accordance with the revision of the European nomenclature in the English language by the Special Interest Group for Early Pregnancy of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), a revision of the nomenclature in the Dutch language is needed as well...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate spontaneous regression curves of hCG serum positivity in patients with surgically treated molar pregnancies. Comparison of complete, partial and invasive mole. The study should result in optimalisation of follow up criteria of molar pregnancies in respect to their potential malignant change. DESIGN: Retrospective comparative clinical study. SETTING: Obst. In a prospective study of screening of maternal serum levels of alpha-1-fetoprotein (MS AFP) and trofoblast-specific beta-1-glycoprotein (MS SP1) were examined in samples from pregnant women between the 16th and 18th week of pregnancy. We detected 8 fetuses with chromosomal aberation, 8 fetuses with neural tube defects and 10 fetuses with inborn cardial defects. Our study confirms higher MS SP1 levels in women with fetuses with chromosomal aberation, while MS AFP's tendency is to decrease. When combining MS SP1 + MS AFP + age of mother (over 35), 75% of fetuses with chromosomal aberation were detected...

Since 70 years ago, the possibility that the etiology of Gravidic Toxemia is inmunologic has been studied. Several researchers agree in the disminution of the levels of IgG with no modifications on the levels of complement fractions. The determination of IgA, IgM, IgC, C3 and C4 was made on fifteen pacients with gravidic toxemia and fifteen pacients that presented no complicated pregnancy. The results are the same as the reported facts like disminution of IgG, it was observed also, a disminution on the complement fractions C3 and C4...
