Bolus advisors that are designed to improve the accuracy of individual bolus doses relative to a meal's carb content and the current glucose have not substantially changed since they were introduced 15 years ago despite an obvious need for enhancement and innovation. Although some glycemic benefits have been demonstrated, bolus advisors largely ignore the large amounts of clinical data they gather that could have a significant impact on glucose outcomes. Concerns have also been raised regarding the aggressive nature of largely unpublished or poorly explained bolus advisor algorithms...

This paper presents a PDE system modeling the growth of a single species population consuming inorganic carbon that is stored internally in a poorly mixed habitat. Inorganic carbon takes the forms of "CO2" (dissolved CO2 and carbonic acid) and "CARB" (bicarbonate and carbonate ions), which are substitutable in their effects on algal growth. We first establish a threshold type result on the extinction/persistence of the species in terms of the sign of a principal eigenvalue associated with a nonlinear eigenvalue problem...

The title mol-ecular salts, C15H20NO(+)·C4H3O4(-), (I), and C9H15INO(+)·C4H3O4(-), (II), have very similar mol-ecular geometries for both cation and anion. The anions of both (I) and (II) are practically planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.062 and 0.072 Å, respectively) and adopt a rare symmetrical geometry with the hy-droxy H atom approximately equidistant from the two O atoms. In their crystals, the cations and anions in both (I) and (II) form tight ionic pairs via strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, with a roughly perpendicular disposition of the anion to the furan ring of the cation...
