INTRODUCTION: There is potential value in testing individual response to P2Y12 inhibitors to predict ischemic and bleeding risk in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. The aims of this study were: (1) to validate the ability of a novel point of care (POC) assay, thrombelastography (TEG) 6s, to detect changes in adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-induced whole blood clotting in volunteers and patients given clopidogrel using TEG 5000 as a reference and (2) to compare a novel, rapid parameter, area under the curve at 15 minutes (AUC15), with the traditional maximum clot amplitude (MA) in TEG 6s...

OBJECTIVES: Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) risks thrombotic and hemorrhagic complications. Optimal anti-coagulation monitoring is controversial. We compared coagulation tests evaluating the heparin effect in pediatric ECLS. METHODS: A retrospective study of children (<18yrs) undergoing ECLS over 12 months in a tertiary pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Variables included anti-Factor Xa activity (anti-Xa), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT), activated clotting time (ACT) and thromboelastogram (TEG® 6s) parameters: ratio and delta reaction (R) times (the ratio and difference, respectively, between R times in kaolin assays with and without heparinase)...

Thrombelastography (TEG) measured by the TEG5000 Hemostasis Analyzer is an established but the labor-intensive method for assessing global hemostasis. The first true point-of-care TEG, the TEG6s system, uses resonance-frequency viscoelasticity measurements and a disposable multi-channel microfluidic cartridge to assess hemostasis and response to antiplatelet therapy. TEG assays (n = 5,100) were performed on the blood of healthy volunteers (n = 157) and patients undergoing coronary revascularization at three hospitals (n = 300)...

The eleven rotavirus mRNAs contain 5'-cap structures and most end with the 3'-consensus sequence 5'-UGACC-3'. The UGACC functions as a common translation enhancer (3'-TE-con) that upregulates viral protein expression through a process mediated by the nonstructural protein NSP3. To address the possibility that gene-specific enhancers are also contained in the untranslated regions (UTRs) of the rotavirus mRNAs, we used rabbit reticulocyte lysates to investigate the translation efficiencies of analog RNAs containing viral-specific 5'-and 3'-UTRs and the open reading frame for chloramphenicol acetyltransferase...

Search Tips

Use Boolean operators: AND/OR

diabetic AND foot
diabetes OR diabetic

Exclude a word using the 'minus' sign

Virchow -triad

Use Parentheses

water AND (cup OR glass)

Add an asterisk (*) at end of a word to include word stems

Neuro* will search for Neurology, Neuroscientist, Neurological, and so on

Use quotes to search for an exact phrase

"primary prevention of cancer"
(heart or cardiac or cardio*) AND arrest -"American Heart Association"
