Small cell carcinoma of the ovary, hypercalcemic type (SCCOHT) is a rare form of aggressive ovarian malignancy linked with mutations in the SMARCA4 gene. This disease predominantly affects young women within the first five decades of life and is associated with poor overall long-term survival, particularly when diagnosed in the advanced stage of the disease. Due to the low incidence of the condition and limited literature, current clinical decision-making is based on a small number of case series and case reports...

In this report, we described a new technique of gasless V-NOTES for hysterectomy and salpingectomy on a robotic platform with flexible devices in a porcine model. As a result, the gynecological procedures were successfully completed. The total operative time was 110 min, while the docking time was 10 min. The estimated blood loss was estimated to be 10 mL with no intraoperative complications. It revealed that gasless V-NOTES for hysterectomy and salpingectomy on a robotic platform with flexible devices appeared to be feasible and safe in the porcine model and has the potential for clinical use in human beings...

OBJECTIVE: Endometrial stromal tumors are rare and complex mesenchymal tumors that often present with clinical symptoms similar to uterine leiomyomas. Due to their atypical nature, they are prone to be misdiagnosed or overlooked by healthcare professionals. This study presents a case report of an incidentally discovered endometrial stromal sarcoma with venous metastasis, which was initially misdiagnosed as a uterine leiomyoma. In addition, this study reviews previously documented cases of similar tumors...

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the fallopian tube (PLFT) is an extremely rare gynecological malignancy that has only been described in case reports. Fertility-sparing treatment for PLFT has not been reported previously. A 24-year-old nulligravida woman was diagnosed with stage IC1 PLFT in the right fallopian tube after experiencing right lower quadrant pain for 2 weeks. She underwent laparoscopic right salpingectomy to preserve fertility followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine/docetaxel. She subsequently became pregnant spontaneously, delivering a term baby 27 months after treatment...

This comprehensive review explores the potential of salpingectomy as a groundbreaking strategy for the prevention of ovarian cancer. The discussion encompasses the biological rationale behind salpingectomy, emphasizing its foundation in the tubal hypothesis, which posits the fallopian tubes as a possible origin site for certain ovarian cancers. Ongoing clinical trials and observational studies provide evolving evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of salpingectomy, particularly in high-risk populations...

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the fertilized egg is implanted and develops outside the endometrium, i.e. in the fallopian tubes, cervix, ovary, or abdomen. It commonly presents with a history of amenorrhoea, lower abdominal pain, and slight vaginal bleeding. The fallopian tube is the most typical location for ectopic pregnancy. Two percent of reported pregnancies are ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy remains a public health threat for women in reproductive age, and a major cause of maternal mortalities in the first trimester...

Hydrosalpinx is defined as the obstruction and fluid distension of the fallopian tube. It is most often seen in the setting of pelvic inflammatory disease, but preserved fallopian tubes or tubal segments after hysterectomy can also develop hydrosalpinx. This case report highlights an instance of painful hydrosalpinx after vaginal hysterectomy and advocates for the complete removal of fallopian tubes as the standard of care at the time of hysterectomy of any route. In this case, a 40-year-old female, G4P3104, with a history of vaginal hysterectomy and prophylactic bilateral salpingectomy for abnormal uterine bleeding and symptomatic uterine leiomyoma two years prior, presented with one month of left lower quadrant pain...

INTRODUCTION: Applying transumbilical laparoendoscopic single-site surgery to endometrial cancers is worldwide, and the depiction of the learning curve is rarely described, which leads to the vagueness of young clinical practitioners. We accumulated the data to identify the completion of the learning curve by analyzing the operative and postoperative outcomes of the patients with endometrial cancer for transumbilical laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (TU-LESS). METHODS: This was a retrospective, consecutive single-center study of patients with endometrial cancer undergoing standard endometrial cancer comprehensive staging surgery (extrafascial hysterectomy, bilateral salpingectomy, and pelvic lymphadenectomy) through TU-LESS by an experienced surgeon from December, 2017 to June, 2021 in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology, West China Second Hospital, Sichuan University, China...

Ovarian cancer remains the most lethal gynaecological malignancy with 314 000 cases and 207 000 deaths annually worldwide. Ovarian cancer cases and deaths are predicted to increase in Australia by 42% and 55% respectively by 2040. Earlier detection and significant downstaging of ovarian cancer have been demonstrated with multimodal screening in the largest randomised controlled trial of ovarian cancer screening in women at average population risk. However, none of the randomised trials have demonstrated a mortality benefit...

The occurrence of hydrosalpinx can reduce the success rate of assisted reproductive technology. The laparoscopic salpingectomy and tubal occlusion have been shown to improve in-vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes in this disease. The primary goal of this review was to assess and compare the IVF outcome following salpingectomy or tubal occlusion in the published literature. The authors included studies with at least one of the following outcomes: days of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, retrieved oocyte number, fertilization rates, clinical pregnancy rate, miscarriage rate, or ectopic pregnancy rate...
