The case report presents a patient (male, 21 years old) who had a car accident and sustained an injury of upper cervical spine. X-ray examinations showed instability of C1-2 segment with a simultaneous os odontoideum. Subsequently CT and MRI examinations were performed to specify the anatomical relations. The patient had only a neurological lesion revealed by the examination by motor evoked potentials (MEP). The metric measurements on standard and functional radiographs showed a minimal sagittal dimension (Dmin) of 13 mm, the distance between os odontoideum and C1 arch (Datl) was 24 mm, the instability index after Penning was 20 mm, the distance between os odontoideum and proc...

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocitic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) is low-grade malignant lymphoprolipheration, that has tendency to convert to a higher-grade neoplasm over time. More common is the development of a diffuse large cell lymphoma or transformation into prolymphocytic cell population. In rare cases, 0.1-0.5% of patients develop multiple myeloma or Hodgkin's disease. We present 65-year-old female with Hodgkin's variant of Richter's syndrome. On the basis of clinical simptoms, cytological, hystological and immunohistological finding in April 2008 CLL/SLL were diagnosed...

Torsion of a spleen is a frequent complication of a rare entity--a wandering spleen. A wandering spleen is revealed occasionally, with physical and/or sonographic exam. However, it is often overseen. It has very unspecific simptoms, and can present a diagnostic problem. Splenic torsion manifets itself like an acute abdomen. We have presented a rare case of splenic torsion with unusual clinical findings, followed by a splenic infarction. Due to their promptness, sensitivity, uniqueness and availability, two diagnostic methods have definitive primacy in visualisation of splenic torsion: Color-Doppler sonography and CT with intravenous application of contrast medium...

Brittle asthmatic patients had very serious and often, life threatening, attacks. Type 1 brittle asthma is characterized by a mantained PEF variability despite therapy, and it affected mostly female, aged between 15 and 55 years. Type 1 is associated to skin prick tests positivity and food intolerance. Several studies have referred a correlation with personality disorders...

This investigation was was undertaken during the rather dry winter with the graminea showing a low nitrat content. The animals failed to present any of the typical simptoms of intoxication and the weekly clinical and hematologycal examinations detected a hyperchromic macrocytic anaemia eventually jointed to anisocytosis and basophylic stippling in the red cells. The anaemia was controlled by removing the animals from the pasture...
