PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to evaluate the evolution of women authorship in France and to analyze the recent trends of the evolution of gender differences in French academic radiology. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective bibliometric analysis was performed by searching for articles published in Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (Diagn Interv Imaging) and in Journal de Radiologie (J Radiol) in Pubmed over the last three decades. For each of these articles, we determined the gender of the first and last author...

AIM: The aim of the study was to evaluate the accuracy of root canal length measurements of primary teeth using an electronic apex locator (EAL) and digital radiography in comparison to stereomicroscopic measurement as gold standard. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After preparation of access cavities of twenty extracted primary molars, the teeth were embedded in alginate blocks. Endodontic files were inserted in the root canals and the length was measured using ProPex II (Dentsply, Maillefer)...

BACKGROUND/AIM: The radiopacity of an endodontic material can considerably vary as measured on film and a digital sensor. Digital radiography offers numerous advantages over conventional film-based radiography in dental clinical practice regarding both diagnostic capabilities and postintervention procedures. The aim of this study was to investigate the capacity of conventional and charge-conpled device (CCD) based digital radiography to detect material on radiograph depending on the radio-pacifying agent present in the mate- rial...

BACKGROUND: To assess the value of a score-based system which allows standardized evaluation of pulmonary edema on bedside chest radiographs (CXRs) under routine clinical conditions. METHODS: Seven experienced readers assessed bedside CXRs of ten patients with an extravascular lung water (EVLW)-value of ≤ 8 mL/kg (range: 4-8 mL/kg; indicates no pulmonary edema) and a series of ten patients with an EVLW-value of ≥ 15 mL/kg (range: 15-21 mL/kg; = indicates a pulmonary edema) with and without customized software which would permit a standardized assessment of the various indications of pulmonary edema...

The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) could demonstrate, for the first time, in a prospective randomized trial, that low-dose CT screening (LD-CT) may decrease lung cancer mortality. At the moment, it is unclear how these results will be applicable to Austria. Specifically, the definition of the population at an increased risk for lung cancer and management of the high rate of false-positive results are problematic. As a consequence, lung cancer screening in Austria is recommended following the guidelines of the Austrian Society of Radiology and the Austrian Society of Pneumology...

UNLABELLED: This study is a retrospective analysis of 30 consecutive cases of Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma (JXA) operated at. Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore, India: la tertiary referral centre) after prior emohilization by an interventional neuro-radiologisl (1996-2002). This study discusses critically the planning of surgical approach, based on anatomico-radiological factors and highlights the efficacy of preoperalive embolization in expediting total re moral of the tumor in 25 out of JO cases with advanced stage JNA...

Catheter-based renal denervation is a new method able to disrupt renal sympathetic nerves located in the adventitia of renal arteries. A randomized clinical trial showed a decrease in blood pressure in resistant hypertensive patients. In order to guide clinicians and interventional practitioner for the use of this new approach, different French scientific societies (Hypertension, Cardiology and Radiology) decided to combine their expertise and propose an expert consensus to assess benefit/risk ratio of this technique in the field of arterial hypertension...

INTRODUCTION: It is a well-known fact that the assessment of the dental development can be related to an individual's age, but after the age of 21 years when the wisdom teeth also complete their development, there arises a need for an optimal age estimation procedure. With advancing age, there is a reduction in the size of the pulp due to secondary dentin deposition and a measurement of this reduction can also be used as a parameter to assess the age of the individuals, both in the living and dead...
