The non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) and quantum master equation (QME) are two main classes of approaches for electronic transport. We discuss various Floquet variances of these formalisms for transport properties of a quantum dot driven via interaction with an external periodic field. We first derived two versions of the Floquet NEGF. We also explore an ansatz of the Floquet NEGF formalism for the interacting systems. In addition, we derived two versions of Floquet QME in the weak interaction regime...

Electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation to ammonia (NH3 ), a precursor for fertilizer production and a promising energy carrier, has garnered widespread interest as an environment-friendly and sustainable alternative to the energy-intensive fossil-feedstock-dependent Haber-Bosch process. The large-scale deployment of this process is contingent on the identification of inexpensive, Earth-abundant systems that can operate efficiently, irrespective of the electrolyte pH for the selective production of NH3 . In this regard, we discuss the scalable synthesis of VO2 anchored on N-doped carbon (VO2@CN), and its applicability as a robust electrocatalyst for the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR)...

Traumatic heterotopic ossification (HO) of the lower extremity is relatively rare but is of major importance in clinical practice. They are defined as posttraumatic abnormal formations of bone within soft tissue outside of the skeletal system. This article describes the clinical case of a 31-year-old male patient who suffered 2 traumatic events within 12 months-a gunshot wound in the lumbar spine/gluteal region followed by a severe traumatic brain injury with intracranial hemorrhage in a traffic accident as a pedestrian...

Gap junctional connection (GJC) in the cumulus-oocyte complex (COC) provides necessary support for message communication and nutrient transmission required for mammalian oocyte maturation. Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is not only a prerequisite for regulating oocyte meiosis, but also the key intercellular factor for affecting GJC function in COCs. However, there are no reports on whether cAMP regulates connexin 37 (Cx37) expression, one of the main connexin proteins, in sheep COCs. In this study, the expression of Cx37 protein and gene in immature sheep COC was detected using immunohistochemistry and PCR...

Bone tumors of the upper limb are a common cause of bone pain and pathological fractures in both old and young populations. Surgical reconstruction and limb salvage have become valid options for these patients despite this kind of surgery being challenging due to the need for wide bone resection and the involvement of surrounding soft tissues. Computer-assisted technology helps the surgeon in pre-operative planning and in designing customized implants. The aim of this study was to investigate the surgical outcomes and complications of custom-made prostheses in oncologic reconstruction of the upper limb and if they are reliable options for patients suffering from aggressive tumors...

Total hip arthroplasty is indubitably one of the most performed operations worldwide. On the other hand, especially in the western world, the average age that women get pregnant has raised confoundedly. Consequently, a steadily increasing number of women become pregnant after they had hip arthroplasty surgery, with copious potential implications. The amount of knowledge on this particular field is considered inadequate in the existing literature. This paper aims to augment clinicians understanding surrounding this topic...

Through the integration of CRISPR/Cpf1 with optogenetics and a reduction-responsive motif, we have developed a photoactivatable cross-linked crRNA that enables precise genome editing upon light exposure. This system also allows for termination of editing activity through external application of reducing agent. The dual-stimuli-responsive CRISPR/Cpf1 editing process operates in a unique OFF → ON → OFF sequence, making it a valuable tool for investigating time-sensitive biological events.

BACKGROUND: systemic inflammation disorders were observed in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Whether the systemic inflammatory indicators could be optimal predictors for the survival of CKD remains less studied. METHODS: In this study, participants were selected from the datasets of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) between 1999 to 2018 years. Four systemic inflammatory indicators were evaluated by the peripheral blood tests including systemic immune-inflammation index (SII, platelet*neutrophil/lymphocyte), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR)...

Intra-operative navigation has revolutionized spinal instrumentation. The O-arm (a mobile X-ray system; Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN) is uniquely capable of enabling visualization of the spine in axial planes.
