OBJECTIVE: To discuss the application of anterior region suture of the popliteal hiatus (PH) under arthroscopy in the treatment of discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) injury with instability in the popliteal tendon region. METHODS: The clinical data of 53 patients (56 knees) with DLM injury who met the selection criteria between March 2014 and November 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 15 males and 38 females, aged 8-55 years with an average age of 36.5 years...

We describe a case of a voluminous rhabdomyoma (R) detected by fetal echocardiography at 32 weeks' gestation (w.g.) obstructing the left ventricular inflow and aortic outflow tract, with a moderate aortic gradient at birth, not needing immediate surgery. At follow-up, the mass progressively regressed, leaving the aortic valve partly damaged, with a gradient that increased to a maximum of 100 mmHg at 9 years. The girl was then operated on successfully by a plasty of the aortic valve. The literature regarding R is discussed...

INTRODUCTION: Supravalvular aortic stenosis (SVAS) is an uncommon congenital abnormality that presents with intimal thickening of the aortic media at the sinotubular junction. Given the congenital nature of the disease, patients usually become symptomatic in childhood. PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 48-year-old man developed symptomatic SVAS in middle age. A patch aortoplasty with a bovine pericardial patch was performed. His postoperative course was uneventful, and echocardiography revealed a significant decrease in peak velocity and pressure gradient...

BACKGROUND: Labiaplasty is one of the top cosmetic procedures patients are seeking in the past two years. However, treatment of disease in posterior fourchette caused by various etiological factors was less investigated and neglected. METHODS: Three types of posterior fourchette deformity were proposed: (1) Redundant posterior fourchette, (2) Relaxed posterior fourchette, and (3) Constricted posterior fourchette. Local flap transfer technique was applied. Y-V-plasty and 5-Z-Flap-plasty were used to treat web type and tight type of the constricted posterior fourchette, respectively...

PURPOSE: The elastase-induced aneurysm (EIA) model in rabbits has been proposed for translational research; however, the adjustment of aneurysm neck size remains challenging. In this study, the technical feasibility and safety of balloon neck-plasty to create a wide-necked aneurysm in rabbit EIA model were investigated. METHODS: Male New Zealand White rabbits (N = 15) were randomly assigned to three groups: group A, EIA creation without neck-plasty; group B, neck-plasty immediately after EIA creation; group C, neck-plasty 4 weeks after EIA creation...

In this report, we present the combination of on-top plasty with a modified Bilhaut-Cloquet procedure for treating atypical radial polydactyly with duplication at the metacarpophalangeal (MP) joint and triphalangism of the radial and ulnar phalanges, hypoplastic middle phalanx of the radial thumb, and hypoplastic phalanx base of the ulnar thumb. To preserve the stable MP and interphalangeal joints of the radial and ulnar thumbs, respectively, on-top plasty involved osteotomizing the middle phalanx and transferring the distal end of the middle phalanx of the ulnar finger to the phalanx base of the radial thumb...

Demographic and clinical variables, indications, complications, and outcomes were collected. 236 patients were reviewed and 13 met inclusion criteria, eight girls and five boys (mean age: 10.6 years). Indications were Ewing's sarcoma (5), osteosarcoma (5), neuroblastoma, desmoid tumor, and neurofibroma...

The square flap method has been successful in releasing contracture bands at various body regions. However, the original square flap method alone may not be efficient in releasing long contracture bands. We, therefore, proposed an extended design to the traditional design, which is called the "square-plus flap." A 4-year-old girl presented with a postburn web-like contracture band over the right axilla. We marked a square flap technique at the center of the contracture band and then two additional Z-plasties were placed on both edges of the flap...

PURPOSE: To report the intermediate-term success rate of ultrasound cyclo plasty (UCP), predictors for failure and complications in advanced glaucoma. METHODS: This study included patients with advanced glaucoma who underwent UCP. The main outcome measures were intraocular pressure (IOP), the number of antiglaucoma medications, and the presence of complications. Success was defined as an IOP reduction ≥30% and IOP between 6 mmHg and 18 mmHg with no vision-threatening complications...

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: The phenomenon of a floating patella or ipsilateral bifocal rupture of the extensor apparatus is an extremely rare injury, with few cases reported in the literature. We report the case of a 35-year-old male patient who presented with a right zygomaticomaxillary complex fracture, which was five months old. It was associated with ectropion over the right eye. Diagnosis was made by clinical examination and confirmed by computed tomography, which included a three-dimensional reconstruction view. The patient was concerned about a projecting deformity over the right side of his face and blurring of vision. Surgical rationale of treatment was to easily access the surgical site for the correction of deformity and to achieve the desired facial contour and ectropion correction with uneventful postoperative healing...

Background One of the common craniofacial abnormalities is cleft lip and palate. Various surgical procedures have been employed to repair the cleft. However, immediate post-operative complications and formation of palatal fistula post surgery are common in surgical procedures. The study aims to compare the fistula rate, soft palate lengthening, and immediate complications of cleft palate repair of Furlow's Z-plasty and straight-line intravelar veloplasty techniques. Method Fifty Patients with isolated or unilateral cleft palate and lip with age between 9-18 months were randomly divided into two groups...

INTRODUCTION: In the context of double-valve surgery for elderly high-risk patients involving both the aortic and mitral valves, a clinically significant problem has been that no clear criteria or surgical strategies have been reported for the selection of mitral valve plasty (MVP) or mitral valve replacement (MVR) for mitral valve disease management during surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) to achieve better clinical outcomes. This study investigated valve durability and survival using our surgical strategy for mitral valve disease with concomitant SAVR in elderly patients...
