"F-fluorodeoxyglucose, being a radiolabeled glucose analogue, is a marker of glucose metabolism indicator. Since glucose uptake is increased in malignant tumors, its major application is in oncology. However, an increased 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose uptake is found in various benign tumors, granulomatous diseases, tuberculosis, inflammation, infection. A healing process may be interpreted as a false positive finding. In contrast, some types of renal cell cancers and lymphomas, neuroendocrine tumors, colonic mucinous adenocarcinomata, hepatocellular carcinomas, prostate cancer, and carcinoid tumors have low "F-fluorodeoxyglucose avidity which may give a misleading false negative result...

INTRODUCTION: In the last ten years breast's surgery changed significantly. The different types mastectomy which conserve the skin and the halo and nipple are more and more popular. From oncology's point of view this kind of operations show similar results compared with the classical modified radical mastectomy, but they have significantly advantage to imrove the final aesthetic result and to reduce the psychological stress of surgery intervention for the patient. Our main goal is to make survey of medical data and to prove oncological radicality and reconstructive efficiency of nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) with one-moment reconstruction...

The aim of the study was to elucidate complex changes in Hgb, erythrocyte count, ESR, and MCH in patients with oncogynecological problems depending on the affected organ and stage of the disease. A total of 340 women were examined in the oncogynecological department of No 40 city hospital, Moscow, from 2005 to 2008. The group included 132 patients with gynecological, 177 with oncogynecological and 31 with oncologycal diseases. A common coefficient was derived to characterize functional activity of erythrocytes The notion of intoxication effect coefficient (IC) is introduced and substantiated...

OBJECTIVE: To review our initial experience with laparoscopic radical cystectomy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Between September 2004 and June 2006 we performed 16 laparoscopic radical cystectomies (14 males and 2 females) with a median age of 63.8 y.o. (51-85). 12 ileal neobladder (with laparoscopic ileal-urethra anastomosis), 3 cutaneous ureteroileostomies and 1 cutaneous ureterostomy were performed as derivation techniques. Median follow up was 12.4 months RESULTS: Mean operation time was 340 minutes...

OBJECTIVES: To describe the incidence of germ cell testicular tumors in our Center, their characteristics and therapy results. METHODS: Retrospective study of 66 cases of germ cell testicular tumors diagnosed in the Health Area of Badajoz between 1993 and 2005. RESULTS: Mean age of the time of diagnosis was 32 years (range 16-80 years), presenting a younger age patients with non seminomatous germ cell tumors (NSGCT) (mean age 30 years). 86...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic value of CK-MB in acute myocardial infarction, to differentiate the relation between creatine phosphokinase (CPK), CK-MB and macro CK-BB (a macromolecule formed by an atypic CK-BB linked to an immunoglobulin) and to investigate the association of macro-BB with cancer. METHODS: We studied 105 patients: 47 with various tumors; 8 with acute myocardial infarction and one control group with 50 persons without cardiac or oncologyc diseases...
