The process of memory consolidation involves the synthesis of new proteins, and interfering with protein synthesis through anisomycin can impair memory. Memory deficits due to aging and sleep disorders may also result from a reduction in protein synthesis. Rescuing memory deficits caused by protein synthesis deficiency is therefore an important issue that needs to be addressed. Our study focused on the effects of cordycepin on fear memory deficits induced by anisomycin using contextual fear conditioning. We observed that cordycepin was able to attenuate these deficits and restore BDNF levels in the hippocampus...

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelination disease characterized by autoimmune damage to the central nervous system. In this disease, failure of remyelination could cause persistent disability. Cordycepin, also known as 3'-deoxyadenosine, exerts anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidic, anti-apoptotic and neuroprotective effects. The cuprizone (CPZ) model has been widely used to study MS as it mimics some characteristics of demyelination disease. To determine whether cordycepin promotes remyelination and functional recovery after CPZ-induced demyelination, we administered cordycepin to the CPZ-induced demyelination mice...

Cordycepin (3'-deoxyadenosine), a major bioactive component isolated from Cordyceps militaris, has multiple pharmacological activities. This study is attempted to investigate whether cordycepin (COR) possesses beneficial effects on chronic unpredictable mild stress- (CUMS-) induced behavioral deficits (depression-like behaviors) and explore the possible mechanisms. ICR mice were subjected to chronic unpredictable mild stress for 42 consecutive days. Then, COR and fluoxetine (FLU, positive control drug) were administered for 21 consecutive days at the last three weeks of CUMS procedure...
