The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of 37 follicular lymphoma (FL) patients treated with (90)ytrium ibritumomab tiuxetan (90Y-IT), outside of clinical trial, according to protocol ISCRTN36210045, after ≥5 years follow-up to February 2014. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) was evaluated with the SF-36, Spanish version, and compared with the general population of Spain. Patients had a mean age of 61.9 (range, 30-85) years and included 18 males. FLIPI, low: 25 (67.6 %), intermedium 9 (24.3 %), and low 3 (8...

AIM: To evaluate the long-term natural history of the gastroduodenal lesions secondary to extrahepatic embolization with Ytrium 90 (⁹⁰Y) spheres. METHODS: From September 2003 to January 2012, 379 procedures of liver radioembolization (RE) using resin microspheres loaded with ⁹⁰Y were performed in our center. We have retrospectively compiled the data from 379 RE procedures performed in our center. We report a comprehensive clinical, analytical, endoscopic and histologic long-term follow-up of a series of patients who developed gastroduodenal lesions after the treatment...

The aim of this study was to determine therapy-related risk factors for the development of melanoma after hemangioma. A cohort study was conducted among 4620 patients treated before 16 years of age for skin hemangioma in France. A nested case-control study was also conducted on 13 patients who developed a melanoma (cases) matched with five controls in cohort according to sex, age at the hemangioma diagnostic, the calendar year of occurrence of the hemangioma, and follow-up. The radiation dose received at the site of the melanoma and at the same site in controls was estimated, and named 'local dose'...

A case of spontaneous recurrent hemarthrosis--due to developed hypertrophied synovium--after total knee arthroplasty is reported. The patient was successfully treated with radiosynovectomy. The first hemorrhage occurred 18 months after the total knee arthroplasty. Several similar episodes followed over a period of 4 years. Because conservative treatment failed to control the bleeding, an arthroscopic lavage was performed, which revealed the existence of proliferative synovium. A significant part of the hypertrophic tissue was excised with the use of a thermocoagulator...

Five patients with relapsed PCNSL were given chemo-immunotherapy (rituximab followed by carboplatin and methotrexate) with osmotic blood-brain barrier (BBB) opening. Four patients achieved CR and one patient had stable disease. Two patients (2/5) had durable responses (survival: 230+, 122+, 82, 42, 38 weeks). One patient later received Indium-111-ibritumomab tiuxetan and Yttrium-90-ibritumomab tiuxetan intravenous, without BBB opening. There was good uptake of Indium-111 ibritumomab tiuxetan in tumor on SPECT scan after 48 h...

The aim of this paper is to describe the technique of percutaneous ultrasound (US)-guided placement of a peritoneal port-catheter in an interventional radiological setting. Nineteen patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis were selected for intraperitoneal port-catheter placement in order to perform intracavitary receptor-immuno- or radio-immunotherapy with Ytrium-90. All the procedures were performed percutaneously under US and fluoro guidance; the insertion site for catheters was chosen according to abdominal conditions and US findings: all devices were implanted at the lower abdominal quadrants...

About 25% of patients with ZES have MEN 1. Except diarrhoea, less frequent in patients with ZES-MEN 1 than in sporadic ZES, and specific MEN 1-related signs, clinical characteristics are similar in both ZES types. Acid output and gastrin levels are also similar whether in the basal state or after secretin stimulation. Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) exists in the majority of ZES-MEN 1 patients, 30% have pituitary adenoma (prolactinomas for half), 30% adrenal involvement, 25 to 30% have EC-Lomas; bronchial and thymic carcinoids have probably been underevaluated...
