INTRODUCTION: Right-sided colon cancer has a worse prognosis than left-sided colon cancer. Complete mesocolic excision (CME) with central vessels ligation (CVL) reduces local recurrence, but is technically demanding, particularly with a laparoscopic approach. Aim of this study is to describe a new robotic approach to right colectomy with CME and CVL and to report oncologic safety and short term outcomes. METHODS: Twenty consecutive patients were included. All patients had a right colon adenocarcinoma and underwent right colectomy with a suprapubic approach...

PURPOSE: Adductor longus injuries are complex. The conflict between views in the recent literature and various nineteenth-century anatomy books regarding symphyseal and perisymphyseal anatomy can lead to difficulties in MRI interpretation and treatment decisions. The aim of the study is to systematically investigate the pyramidalis muscle and its anatomical connections with adductor longus and rectus abdominis, to elucidate injury patterns occurring with adductor avulsions. METHODS: A layered dissection of the soft tissues of the anterior symphyseal area was performed on seven fresh-frozen male cadavers...

Warty (follicular) dyskeratoma (WD) is a discrete nodular lesion that demonstrates the characteristic histopathologic findings of acantholysis and dyskeratosis. WDs most commonly occur on the head and neck of adults. We present a case of WD that occurred on the mons pubis of a 53-year-old woman. Only a few other cases of WDs occurring on the vulva have been reported. WD most likely represents a tumor of the follicular infundibulum. Despite its name, there is no evidence that WD is caused by a human papillomavirus (HPV) infection...

Sigmodontinae rodents constitute the second-largest subfamily among mammals. Alongside the taxonomic diversity, they are also ecologically diverse, exhibiting a wide array of locomotion modes, with semifossorial, terrestrial, semiaquatic, scansorial, arboreal, and saltatorial forms. To understand the ecomorphologic aspects that allow these rodents to display such locomotion diversity, we analyzed 35 qualitative characters of the appendicular skeleton (humerus, ulna, radius, scapula, femur, tibia, ilium, ischium and pubis) in 795 specimens belonging to 64 species, 34 genera and 10 tribes, representing all locomotion modes assigned to this subfamily...

Study Design Case series. Background Pubic bone stress (PBS) is a common acute or chronic response of the pelvis in sports where sprinting, kicking, twisting, and cutting are the dominant movements. There are few nonoperative rehabilitation strategies for the condition reported in the literature, and the outcome of conservative treatment has not been documented. Case Description Five professional and academy soccer players complaining of pubic symphysis pain, confirmed as PBS on magnetic resonance imaging and objective assessment, were treated with a nonoperative rehabilitation program that featured functional and clinical objective markers as progression criteria...

There are two majorspecies of medically important lice that parasitize humans: Phthirus pubis, found in pubic hair, and Pediculus humanus. Pediculus humanus consists of two eco types that live in specific niches on the human host: body lice (Pediculus humanus humanus), found on the human body and clothing, and head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis), found on the scalp. To date, only body lice are known to be vectors of human disease; however, it has recently been reported that the DNA of several bacterial agents has been detected in head lice, raising questions about their role in the transmission of pathogens...

The bony pelvis is constituted by the ilium, ischium, pubis, and sacrum. The pelvic radiograph is an important component of the skeletal survey performed in suspected skeletal dysplasia. Most of the common skeletal dysplasias have either minor or major radiological abnormalities; hence, knowledge of the normal radiological appearance of bony pelvis is vital for recognizing the early signs of various skeletal dysplasias. This article discusses many common and some uncommon radiological findings on pelvic radiographs along with the specific dysplasia in which they are seen; common differential diagnostic considerations are also discussed...

OBJECTIVES: To assess whether horizontal versus vertical bolster orientation affects kidney position during prone percutaneous nephrolithotomy as this could impact the need for supracostal access and therefore the likelihood of pleural injury. METHODS: In a prospective trial, ten subjects with 20 renal units underwent magnetic resonance imaging in prone position with standard cylindrical bolsters oriented vertically and then horizontally. Vertical bolsters were placed along the lateral aspect of the chest...

BACKGROUND: Inguinal hernia is a commonly encountered cause of pain in athletes. Because of the anatomic complexity, lack of standard imaging, and the dynamic condition, there is no unified opinion explaining its underlying pathology. HYPOTHESIS: Athletes with persistent groin pain would have a high prevalence of inguinal hernia with dynamic ultrasound, and herniorrhaphy would successfully return athletes to activity. STUDY DESIGN: Case-control study...

Periprostatic and pelvic fat have been shown to influence prostate cancer behaviour through the secretion of chemokines and growth factors, acting in a paracrine mode. We have measured periprostatic fat volume (PFV) with normalisation to prostate gland volume on pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and have correlated this with grade (Gleason score; GS) and pathological staging (pT) of prostate cancer (PCa) following radical prostatectomy (RP). PFV was determined using a segmentation technique on contiguous T1-weighted axial MRI slices from the level of the prostate base to the apex...

The pelvic girdle provides physical support and attachment for the hind limb musculature. In birds there is variability in pelvic morphology across different orders and this has been used as evidence for various types of locomotion. However, the morphological variation of pelvic bones has yet to be studied systematically in birds. Therefore, we investigated basic allometric relationships among female body mass (as a size proxy) and various pelvic measurements in a phylogenetic context. We also examined in detail the inter-relationships among various pelvic measurements...

We report a case of pubic symphysis diastasis, which was initially asymptomatic; however, it became symptomatic with urinary incontinence during pregnancy. The patient was treated with open reduction and internal fixation of the symphysis pubis. A corticocancellous autograft was used for filling the gap which remained despite bilateral compression of the iliac bones. We obtained satisfactory outcome in terms of symptoms at the 3 years' follow-up; however, there was instability findings in the X-rays with broken screws...

Abelisaurid theropods were most abundant in the Gondwana during the Cretaceous Period. Pycnonemosaurus nevesi Kellner & Campos, 2002 was the first abelisaurid dinosaur described from the Bauru Group (Brazil, Upper Cretaceous). Nevertheless, its initial description was based on the comparison of a restricted number of remains with other abelisaurids. In this paper, I present a new description of the morphology of Pycnonemosaurus nevesi, including three new caudal transverse processes and a discussion of several new characteristics based on perspectives derived from recently described abelisauroids...
