We present the case of a 54-year-old female patient, diagnosed with stage IV rectal cancer, with multiple (12) synchronous liver metastases, the largest of 10 cm in diameter, bilobar distributed. The operative management consisted in simultaneous ultra-low robotic anterior resection with coloanal anastomosis (protected by ileostomy) and multiple ultrasound-guided non-anatomical liver resections (in open approach). The patient was unable to follow neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy due to the systemic side effects...

A 68-year-old man who had a history of bone marrow transplantation for acute myeloid leukemia was referred to our hospital due to an abnormal liver function test. Based on the clinical diagnosis of P-NET G2 with multiple livermetastases, pylorus-preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy with combined resection of the portal vein and liver sampling were performed (R2 resection). The resected specimen revealed NET-G2 tumorof the pancreatic head(Ki-67 proliferation index 5.0%)and hepatic metastasis(Ki-67 index 2.2%)...

INTRODUCTION: Surgery is the only potentially curative treatment for patients with colorectal liver metastases, resulting in 5-year survival rates of 36 -€“ 58. Although many studies have been performed to determine prognostic factors for tumor recurrence and survival after resection of colorectal liver metastases, there are few prognostic scoring systems stratifying patients undergoing surgery for colorectal liver metastases into risk group models. OBJECTIVES: To identify, evaluate and compare the existing prognostic scores for survival after surgery for resection of colorectal liver metastases...

Comparative cellular DNA content measurements have been done on two sites differing from each other in their anatomical location, in 16 cases of gastric cancer by means of microphotometry. In addition, comparisons on the DNA stemline of the original gastric lesions and their metastatic lesions (8 cases of liver metastases and 9 cases of lymph node metastases) also were done. The main stemlines in four cases (25%) out of 16 gastric cancers exhibited different main DNA stemlines from the other sites in the same lesion, although in the other 12 cases examined, two sites showed the same DNA stemlines to each other...

Assuming that in the postoperative recurrent tumor screening CEA levels are as important as imaging techniques in elucidating the spread or the recurrence of a tumor, we examined 61 patients with colonic carcinoma. Those patients were operated curatively and were regularly controlled by clinical examination, laboratory, sonographic, endoscopic or radiological methods. In 3 patients there was a local recurrent, in 3 other patients there was a local recurrent and metastases. 8 patients showed sonographic livermetastases only, proved by computed tomography...

Nephrectomy with irradiation was performed in a 3;2 year old boy with Wilms tumor stage IV (livermetastases (liver metastases). Six months later a hemihepatectomy was performed on account of the liver metatases which persisted under a combined Actinomycin Vincristin therapy. A monotherapy with Adriamycin was instituted. The patient developed acute congestive heart failure. The patient developed acute congestive heart failure and showed typical EKG changes after a total dose of 700 mg/M2 of Adriamycin. In comparison to adults children reportedly tolerate somewhat higher total doses of Adriamycin...
