RNA modification is vital to various cellular and biological processes. Among the existing RNA modifications, N6 -methyladenosine (m6A) is considered the most important modification owing to its involvement in many biological processes. The prediction of m6A sites is crucial because it can provide a better understanding of their functional mechanisms. In this regard, although experimental methods are useful, they are time consuming. Previously, researchers have attempted to predict m6A sites using computational methods to overcome the limitations of experimental methods...

N6-methyladenosine (m(6)A) is present ubiquitously in the RNA of living organisms from Escherichia coli to humans. Nonetheless, the exact molecular mechanism of this modification remains unclear. The experimental identification of m(6)A modification is time-consuming and expensive; therefore, bioinformatics tools with high accuracy represent desirable alternatives for the large-scale, rapid identification of N6-methyladenosine sites. In this study, RNA-MethylPred, a new bioinformatics model, was developed by incorporating bi-profile Bayes, dinucleotide composition, and k nearest neighbor (KNN) scores for three feature extractions...

The paper describes a clinical case of pulmonary vasculitis caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV). Its diagnosis was established on the basis of in-depth laboratory testing and an investigation of the molecular biological markers of viremia (polymerase chain reaction--PCR--HCV RNA) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. By taking into account of extrahepatic HCV replication and contraindications to interferon therapy, the female patient was given an interferon-free antiviral therapy cycle using an interferonogenic inductor in combination with ribavirin...

OBJECTIVE: To explore the therapeutic effect of osteogenically induced adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) on vascular deprivation-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in rabbit model. METHODS: Vascular deprivation-induced ONFH was established by intramuscular injection of methylpre- dnisolone, and vascular occlusion of the capital femoral epiphysis by electrocoagulation in adult New Zealand white rabbits. Eight weeks after the establishment of vascular deprivation-induced ONFH, animals were randomly divided into three equal groups...

BACKGROUND: We focused on vitamins with marked antioxidant potency to see whether their use might prevent the development of steroid-induced osteonecrosis. METHODS: Fifteen Japanese white rabbits weighing about 3.5 kg were injected once into the right gluteal muscle with methylpred-nisolone (MPSL) 40 mg/kg (S group). In addition, 10 other rabbits received consecutive daily intravenous injections of vitamin E 50 mg/kg, starting from the day of MPSL administration (E group)...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Cerebral ischemia and stroke are leading causes of morbidity and mortality. An approach to protecting the brain during ischemia is to try to increase the delivery of oxygen via the residual blood flow through and around ischemic tissue. To test this hypothesis, we used a novel oxygen delivery agent, RSR-13 (2-[4-[[(3,5-dimethylanilino)-carbonyl]-methyl]phenoxy]-2-methylpr opionic acid). Intravenous administration of RSR-13 increases oxygen delivery through allosteric modification of the hemoglobin molecule, resulting in a shift in the hemoglobin/oxygen dissociation curve in favour of oxygen delivery...

The role of ipratropium bromide as adjunct therapy to beta-agonists in acute asthma is uncertain. We therefore decided to compare the use of 3 mg of salbutamol sulfate alone vs 3 mg salbutamol sulfate with 0.5 mg ipratropium bromide in patients with acute asthma. Patients presenting with acute asthma and an FEV1 less than 70% predicted were randomized to a single combination treatment vs salbutamol alone. All patients received supplemental oxygen and methylpred-nisolone, 125 mg, IV. Baseline measurements were repeated at 45 and 90 min and these included spirometry, oximetry, and vital signs...
