Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common cause of chronic arthritis in childhood. Up to 50% of patients are resistant to standard therapy, which includes non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs and biologic therapies.
