Coronary sinus Reducer implantation is a percutaneous technique used to treat patients suffering from refractory angina pectoris. The device narrows the coronary sinus, increases the back pressure in the myocardial venous system and forces redistribution of coronary blood flow from less ischemic subepicardium to the more ischemic subendocardium. Multiple clinical studies had proven its efficacy to alleviate myocardial ischemia and related symptoms, and to improve the quality of life of patients with refractory symptomatic chronic coronary artery disease for whom coronary revascularization is deemed unsuitable...

Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is known for its high nutritional value, including its content of phytochemicals. This study aims to investigate the effect of drying and freezing conditions on the phytochemical content of okra. Our results indicated that both air-drying and freezing okra during 6 months of storage showed a significant decrease in total phenolic content, flavonoid content, anthocyanin content, and antioxidant activity. Furthermore, higher levels of phytochemicals were found for okra samples treated with Na2 SO4 solution when compared to untreated okra...

In recent years, there is a significant increase in the "revolving door" phenomenon, when patients, discharged from psychiatric hospitals, return to hospitalization in less than a month. During the last decade, experience with clinical activity at the Beer- Sheva Mental Health Center raised a question regarding whether there is a similar trend in our center as well.

Angor with non-obstructive coronary arteries or ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries (ANOCA/INOCA) is a condition where a patient experiences symptoms and/or signs of myocardial ischemia, without significant coronary artery stenoses. This syndrome is often caused by a direct imbalance between supply and demand, leading to inadequate myocardial perfusion due to microvascular limitations or coronary arteries' spasms. Although previously considered benign, there is increasing evidence that ANOCA/INOCA is associated with a poor quality of life, significant burden on the healthcare system, and major adverse cardiac events...

Celiac disease is an immune-mediated disease caused by ingestion of gluten-containing products. The main aim of this study was to develop novel gluten-free doughnuts with high nutritional value using inulin and lupin flour. Five different doughnuts were formulated. Lupin flour was used to replace the potato starch-corn flour composite at levels of 15, 30, 45, 60 and 75% in gluten-free doughnut formulations (AF), (BF), (CF), (DF) and (EF), respectively. Inulin was added to all blends at a level of 6%. Doughnuts made with 100% wheat flour (C1) and 100% corn flour-potato starch blend (C2) served as the controls...

BACKGROUND: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are noncoding RNAs involved in post-transcriptional genetic regulation with a proposed role in intercellular communication. miRNAs are considered promising biomarkers in ischemic heart disease. Invasive physiological evaluation allows a precise assessment of each affected coronary compartment. Although some studies have associated the expression of circulating miRNAs with invasive physiological indexes, their global relationship with coronary compartments has not been assessed...

COVID-19 is a severe acute respiratory syndrome that mainly affects the human respiratory system. Unhealthy nutritional habits and obesity are expected as consequences of protective measures including quarantine. Obesity, in its growing prevalence, is a worldwide health issue associated with worsening health conditions. This is a cross-sectional study to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on obesity among Jordanian adults and across epidemiological statuses. Participants were randomly selected, and the survey was distributed on social media networking sites...

A 48-year-old woman with no history of cardiovascular risk factors was admitted to the emergency room with complaints of angor, dyspnea, and fever in the last 24 h. She was referred for xerostomia and xerophthalmia since 2015. At examination, the patient was polypneic with bibasal crackles. Blood tests showed leukocytosis and increased high sensitivity troponin I and C-reactive protein (CRP). The echocardiogram revealed a small pericardial effusion.  She was diagnosed with myopericarditis and started acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and colchicine...

BACKGROUND: Vasospastic angina is an infrequent underlying cause of angina and is under-diagnosed. Ergonovine provocation tests can be performed via intravenous or intracoronary injections. Although the safety profile of intracoronary injection has been well documented, no study has yet compared the intracoronary and intravenous injections regarding the positivity rate of the test. AIMS: This study sought to compare the positivity rate of intravenous versus intracoronary injection of ergonovine in the diagnosis of vasospastic angina...

Here we present the case of a 60-year-old patient with sinus node disease (NSS), symptomatic with dizziness and angor. The electrocardiogram showed episodes of sinus pauses with nodal escapes. During hospitalization, pending the placement of a definitive pacemaker, cilostazol (100 mg every 12 hours orally) was indicated, observing an increase in heart rate 48 hours after starting the medication, and the disappearance of sinus pauses in the 24 hours Holter. Our objective has been to show that cilostazol can be useful in patients with SNN, although long-term chronotropic effects of this treatment has yet to be evaluated...

Thermal fluctuations are not large enough to lead to state changes in granular materials. However, in many cases, such materials do achieve reproducible bulk properties, suggesting that they are controlled by an underlying statistical mechanics analogous to thermodynamics. While themodynamic descriptions of granular materials have been explored, they have not yet been concretely connected to their underlying statistical mechanics. We make this connection concrete by providing a first-principles derivation of the multiplicity and thus the entropy of the force networks in granular packings...

Hypothyroidism is considered a cardiac risk factor, but there is controversial evidence about its effects on coronary disease. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of hypothyroidism in rat hearts exposed to 2 degrees of stunning due to ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) as well as the underlying mechanisms. Hypothyroid (HypoT) rats were obtained by drinking 0.02% methimazole during 15 days. Isolated hearts were perfused and introduced in a flow calorimeter to measure contractile performance (P), total heat rate (Ht), and muscle economy (P/Ht)...

Stress-based ensembles incorporating temperaturelike variables have been proposed as a route to an equation of state for granular materials. To test the efficacy of this approach, we perform experiments on a two-dimensional photoelastic granular system under three loading conditions: uniaxial compression, biaxial compression, and simple shear. From the interparticle forces, we find that the distributions of the normal component of the coarse-grained force-moment tensor are exponential tailed, while the deviatoric component is Gaussian distributed...
