Objective: To summarize the features of the Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) and to sistematyze its diagnosis and therapeutic management. Method: We performed a literature review in PubMed, obtaining a total of 3,308 articles, selecting 10 for its complete reading and 22 for the reading of the summary according to the content. A 66 years female, who was since last year under astenia, arthralgias, pimply lesions in spread plates and tests showing eritrosedimentation over 100 mm, anemi, leucocitosis with neutrofilia, policlonal hypergammaglobulinemia, slight proteinuria and IgE on 900. We submit the case of a child afflicted with a mucoepidermoid bronchial tumor. The patient is a boy, aged seven, who after undergoing antibiotic treatment for six weeks because of a fever and atelectasia-condensation in the right lower lobe showed no signs of clinical improvement and was sent to our department to undergo further study and treatment. A bronchoscopy performed shows a polypoid mass that partially blocks the main bronchial tube a few milimiters under the access to the right upper lobe. The case of a child is presented, aged 4.5 years, in whom, following a simple enterocolitis that had not been treated, developed jaundice. This was considered and treated for over two years as being either a viral or a chronic hepatitis. The hepatic functions were severely altered and the physical development of the child was considerably retarded.
