Here, we sought to identify clinical factors associated with a negative impact on the relationship in Peyronie's Disease patients. During initial consultation, a detailed sexual questionnaire was administered, which included a question on whether or not PD negatively impacted the current sexual relationship. 146/242 (60.3%) patients reported that PD negatively impacted their sexual relationship. On multivariate analysis, penile shortening, partner pain with intercourse, and shorter relationship duration were associated with a negative relationship effect...

OBJECTIVES: To explore the association between HbA1C level and penile implant infection rates and to define a cut-off value that predicted implant infection. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A multi center prospective study included all patients undergoing penile implant surgery between 2009-15. Preoperative, perioperative and postoperative management were identical for the entire cohort. Univariate analysis was performed to define predictors of implant infection. HbA1c levels were analyzed as a continuous variable and sequential analysis was conducted utilizing 0...

INTRODUCTION: We aimed to evaluate whether or not nitomycin-C (MMC) has an anti-fibrotic effect on transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β)-induced Peyronie's disease (PD) in a rat model. METHODS: Eighteen 12-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups: Group 1= TGF-β1 (n:7); Group 2= TGF-β1+MMC (n:7); and Group 3= Sham group (0.25 ml bovine serum albumin injected) (n:4). All groups were sacrificed on the sixth week of the procedure and their penises were excised...

OBJECTIVE: Our aim was to present the indications and the outcomes of penile prosthesis implantation. METHODS: A literature review was performed through PubMed using the following keywords: penile implantation ; penile prosthesis; erectile dysfunction. RESULTS: Evolution of penile prosthesis devices led to get a fiable and effective treatment for men with erectile dysfunction who do not respond to less invasive therapy. Penile implant can also be useful in the treatment of Peyronie's disease, priapism and transgender surgery...

BACKGROUND: Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) is indicated for the treatment of penile curvature in adult men with Peyronie's disease (PD) with palpable plaque and curvature deformity of at least 30° at the start of therapy. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of CCH plus vacuum-pump therapy with and without penile modeling for the management of PD. METHODS: Adult men with PD and penile curvature of at least 30° were randomly assigned to receive CCH 0...

INTRODUCTION: Surgical techniques in managing Peyronies disease include plication corporoplasty, plaque incision, grafting and penile prosthesis implantation. The question of an ideal transplant for corporoplasty remains open. AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of the substitution corporoplasty using buccal mucosa transplant (BMT) in treating Peyronies disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 2011 to February 2016, 28 patients with stable stage Peyronies disease underwent substitution coroproplasty using BMT (incision and grafting)...

INTRODUCTION: The use of intralesional injection of collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) has become a valid treatment option in the management of Peyronie's disease (PD). Multiple studies have shown the drug's safety and efficacy. However, sparse literature exists on the utility of the injection protocol's 14-day "observation period," in which patients are instructed to abstain from all sexual activity. AIM: To summarize the contemporary literature and report on our series of patients treated with CCH in an effort to explore the effectiveness of the postinjection observation period...

BACKGROUND: Penile traction therapy with the use of a traction device (TD) or vacuum erectile device (VED) has been studied as local modalities for Peyronie's disease (PD). AIM: To identify changes of penile curvature, erectile function, and possible cellular and molecular mechanisms between the TD and VED in a rat model of PD. METHODS: Peyronie's plaque was induced in 30 adult male rats. Then, rats were randomly divided into control (PD without treatment), VED, and TD groups...

BACKGROUND: Grafting techniques in the surgical management of Peyronie's disease (PD) are challenging, especially in inexperienced hands. In order to improve surgical outcomes the urologist should follow a standard surgical approach, preferably of an established and reliable grafting technique. The aim of this study is to provide tips and tricks for graft surgery for PD. METHODS: This report offers a step-by-step tutorial for grafting techniques in PD, especially for the Sealing technique and the partial plaque excision and grafting (PEG) procedure...

Penile plication has become the preferred surgical technique for Peyronie's disease (PD) as it can be performed efficiently, safely, with a high success rate, low morbidity and a low complication rate. Here in we describe two modern plication techniques in detail: the Kiels Knot plication and the minimally invasive penoscrotal plication. Benefits of the techniques include no palpable sutures for the Kiels Knot Plication and less surgical trauma for the penoscrotal plication. Plication has a low rate of failure...

BACKGROUND: Peyronie's disease is a relatively common condition in urological practice, but is still poorly identified and understood in the wider medical community and by most of the public. Identifying the condition and appropriate referral for expert opinion can significantly lessen the physical and psychological effect on patients. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this article is to provide general practitioners with a concise and updated review of Peyronie's disease, with the aim of helping them to provide appropriate advice to their patients...

OBJECTIVE: To determine the success and feasibility of surgically correcting residual curvature after intralesional collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) for the treatment of Peyronie's disease. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients who had intralesional CCH treatment for (PD) and who subsequently underwent penile plication (PP), plaque incision and grafting (PIG), or inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) placement. RESULTS: Ten men who underwent PP, PIG, or IPP for the treatment of residual curvature after intralesional CCH were identified...

Peyronie's disease (PD) is an inflammatory disorder characterized by an abnormal collagen deposition in the tunica albuginea of the penis, leading to fibrous and non-compliant plaques that can impede normal erection. Although pharmacological treatments are available, only intralesional injection therapy and surgical reconstruction have demonstrated tangible clinical efficacy in the management of this condition. Intralesional injection of collagenase clostridium histolyticum (CCH) has come to the forefront of minimally invasive treatment of PD...

BACKGROUND: Peyronie's disease (PD), defined as the abnormal formation of fibrous plaque(s) in the tunica albuginea of the penis, is a chronic condition that afflicts 3% to 13% of the US male population; there is no current research on the efficacy and safety of collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) in the treatment of acute phase PD. AIM: To examine the efficacy and safety of CCH in the treatment of acute-phase PD. INTRODUCTION: Peyronie's disease (PD) is a common condition that results in penile deformity, which makes sexual intercourse difficult or impossible, and causes psychological, emotional, and relationship difficulties for the man affected and his partner. Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH; Xiapex, Xiaflex) is the first licensed non-surgical treatment option for PD. The safety and efficacy have been demonstrated in two large phase III randomized controlled trials (IMPRESS I and IMPRESS II)...
