INTRODUCTION: Scrotal lymphedema is a rare condition, with significant psychological and functional disability. To date, association with giant congenital melanocytic nevus has not been reported. CASE REPORT: We report a case of a 15-year-old male with a giant congenital nevus associated with giant scrotal lymphedema. Surgical debulking with penoscrotoplasty achieved satisfactory functional and esthetic results. CONCLUSIONS: Early diagnosis and surgical intervention should be advocated for congenital causes of large scrotal swelling...

Genital lymphedema is a rare condition in males that can lead to difficulty in voiding, sexual function, hygiene, and mobility. Only several methods of treatment have been developed and studied, primarily focusing on restoring patency of diseased lymph channels or resection of affected tissue. We are the first to describe the surgical technique and our experience of using free submental and submandibular arterio-venous vascularized lymph node transfer specifically for the treatment of scrotal edema. We report on two patients who have undergone selective neck dissection of submental and submandibular lymph nodes based off the facial artery and vein...

Combined secondary scrotal and lower extremity lymphedema is an infrequent complication of radical excision of urogenital cancers associated with pelvic lymphadenectomy. Scrotal lymphedema is usually psychologically distressing, and difficult to treat. We report a case of a 41-years old male who presented with scrotal and left lower extremity lymphedema after radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy successfully treated with pedicled superficial inguinal lymph node (SILN) transfer and lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) restoring the lymphatic drainage...

Lymphedema is the result of altered lymphatic drainage. Primary lymphedema is a rare condition with a reported incidence of only 0.6%. Most cases in children are caused by congenital factors. We report a 4-year-old child with primary penile scrotal lymphedema combined with bilateral hydrocele, and satisfactory therapeutic and aesthetic results were obtained through surgical resection and genital reconstruction.

Male genital lymphedema is a debilitating condition with significant physiologic and psychologic ramifications. Classical surgical treatments for male genital lymphedema include primarily ablative procedures through removal of excess soft tissue, which often have poor aesthetic and functional outcomes. Super microsurgical techniques (including lymphovenous bypass and lymph node transfers) are promising contemporary interventions. In this case report, we aim to share our experience of lymphovenous bypass with indocyanine green (ICG) lymphangiography in the management of penile and scrotal lymphedema...

Background: The omentum provides abundant lymphatic tissue with reliable vascular anatomy, representing an ideal donor for vascularized lymph node transfer without risk for donor site lymphedema. We describe a novel, robotically assisted approach for omental flap harvest. Methods: All patients undergoing robotically assisted omentum harvest for vascularized lymph node transfer from 2017 to 2019 were identified. Patient demographics, intraoperative variables, and postoperative outcomes were reviewed...

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) arising with chronic lymphedema is a rare condition, though literature suggests a variety of malignant tumors associated with filariasis. We present a case of 70-year-old male patient with a history of penile and scrotal SCC of filarial origin. We here discuss the unusual association of carcinoma and filariasis and its surgical treatment.

Genital lymphedema (GL) is an uncommon and disabling disease that manifests as enlargement of the genital region resulting from the disturbance of lymphatic drainage. Although conservative treatment such as decompression is typically the first-line approach, surgical intervention has been shown to be effective in certain cases. This study aimed to systematically review studies evaluating available surgical alternatives for the treatment of male GL. A systematic search strategy using keyword and subject headings was applied to PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library in May 2019...

Lymphedema is defined as an abnormal accumulation of extracellular fluid in the subcutaneous compartment caused by impaired lymphatic drainage. Scrotal lymphedema is a rare condition characterised by swelling of the scrotal skin due to deterioration in lymphatic drainage. Over time, fibrosis may develop in the scrotum and genital malformations that impair the patient's quality of life. Here, we present the first case in our experience of scrotal lymphedema, which occurred in a 3-year child following circumcision, and subsequently was treated successfully with complex decongestive physiotherapy...

Single site Multiple Lymphatic-Venous Anastomoses (MLVA) provides optimal functional and cosmetic results with low complication rates in treatment of lower limb lymphedema. However, no evidence exists in literature concerning the use of this technique in treatment of peno-scrotal lymphedema. We report a case of a 44-year-old male patient who developed secondary peno-scrotal lymphedema with severe lymphorrhea, following a laser treatment for scrotal pustolosis, leading to recurrent infections and finally an established peno-scrotal lymphedema...

INTRODUCTION: Genital lymphedema (GL) surgery can be either palliative or functional. Palliative procedures involve excision of the affected tissue and reconstruction by either local flaps or skin grafts. Reconstructive procedures aim to restore lymphatic flow through microsurgical lymphaticovenous anastomoses (LVAs). This systematic analysis of outcomes and complication rates aims to compare outcomes between these surgical treatment options for GL. METHODS: A systematic review of the PubMed database was performed with the following search algorithm: (lymphorrhea or lymphedema) and (genital or scrotal or vulvar) and (microsurgery or "surgical treatment"), evaluating outcomes, and complications after surgical treatment of GL...

Lymphedema is the result of an alteration of the lymphatic drainage, and its most common worldwide cause is filariasis. In our practice usually is associated to neoplasic, inflammatory and granulomatous processes, radiotherapy, hydroelectrolytic disbalances, and idiopathic. It can affect any part of the body, including the penis and scrotum. The genital lymphedema is a rare presentation, it corresponds to 0.6% of lymphedema. However, causes serious functional, social and emotional limitations for the patient...

Lymphedema is a chronic disease in which lymph accumulates under the subcutaneous tissue. The condition may be due to either congenital or acquired lymphatic system abnormalities. Genital lymphedema (scrotal lymphedema) has a high psychological and functional impact, and many surgical techniques have been tried in an attempt to improve function and cosmetic appearance. The aim of this study is to present our experience in treatment of a series of patients with scrotal lymphedema. Twenty patients suffering from moderate to severe scrotal lymphedema underwent treatment by using three flaps technique (2 inguinoscrotal flap and one perineoscrotal flap)...
