Olive Pomace was firstly dried, then pomace olive oil was extracted, and the obtained oil was hydrolyzed to produce glycerol and mixture of fatty acids. Fatty acids mixture was separated, this mixture was then cooled, where the all saturated fatty acids were solidified, and then they were filtered off. These saturated fatty acids were identified by GC mass after esterification, and were identified as stearic, palmitic and myristic acids. Stearic acid was extracted using supercritical CO2 extractor. The stearic acid was confirmed by means of GC mass after its esterification, and it was used as starting material for preparation of a variety of heterocyclic compounds, which were then tested for their antimicrobial activities...

In this study, a novel simple method was developed to prepare functional hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels simultaneously containing hydrazone and disulfide bonds in their crossbridges. The HA hydrogels were formed by directly reacting 2,5-hexanedione and 3,3'-dithiodipropionate hydrazide-modified HA, and were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TGA and mechanical tests. The results showed that the formation of HA hydrogels was a result of the reaction between ketone and hydrazide groups. Dibenzo[b,h][1,6]naphthyridines were synthesized in one pot by reacting 2-acetylaminobenzaldehyde with methyl ketones under basic conditions via four sequential condensation reactions. This method was also applied to the synthesis of 1,2-dihydroquinolines. 6-Methyl-1,6-dibenzonaphthyridinium triflates showed strong fluorescence, and the fluorescence intensities were changed upon intercalation into double-stranded DNA.

New thiosemicarbazide derivatives 2-6 were synthesised by reacting 2-(ethylsulfanyl)benzohydrazide with various aryl isothiocyanates. The cyclisation of compounds 2-6 under reflux conditions in a basic medium (aqueous NaOH, 4 N) yielded compounds 7-11 that contain a 1,2,4-triazole ring. All of the synthesised compounds were screened for their antioxidant activities. We produced UV curable lenses with properties blocking short wave UV light. In the UV-curable formulations, we used an oligomer (Ac-PEEK) with another urethan oligomer (Mw = 2000). The trisphosphine ligand with triazine core, 2,4,6-tris{4-(diphenylphosphino)phenyl}-1,3,5-triazine (2), was synthesized in moderate yield by reacting 2,4,6-tris(4-bromophenyl)-1,3,5-triazine with 3 equiv of KPPh2. Structural modifications that lead to the creation of π-extended aromatic macrocyles involving a heterocyclic ring other than pyrrole and rigid β-β' linkages have not been well studied up to date. The rigidity caused by the conformational restriction would change the spectroscopic properties of the system as compared with those of the normal congeners. With these considerations, we have synthesized and fully characterized π-extended, core modified expanded porphyrins bearing rigid bipyrrole units.
