Hong-Hua-Xiao-Yao tablet (HHXYT) is attracting attention increasingly because of its use in treatment of mammary gland hyperplasia (MGH) and menopausal syndrome. However, its pharmacokinetics remains unclear. This study developed a sensitive and rapid method for simultaneous determination of 10 compounds of HHXYT in rat plasma by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and to compare the pharmacokinetics of these compounds in MGH rats and sham operated rats. The linearity, accuracy, precision, stability and matrix effect were within acceptable ranges...

Total extract of Tephrosia purpurea ( T. purpurea ) expressed potent ex-vivo bronchodilator effect in isolated Guinea pigs' tracheal muscles. Fractionation of T. purpurea total extract ( TPTE) using liquid-liquid technique followed by ex-vivo bronchodilator testing indicated that the activity was trapped to the chloroform (CHCl3 ) soluble fraction. Phytochemical study of the CHCl3 fraction guided by ex-vivo bronchodilator activity led to the isolation of 7 active flavones of which compounds 1 ( epi- Tephroapollin G), 3 (Acetyltephroapollin C), 4 (4''-Dehydroxytephroapollin E), and 5 ( epi- Tephroapollin F) were new...

Recently we published in this journal an enantioselective high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method for the quantitative determination of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and its major phase-1 metabolites, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyamphetamine (HMA), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxymethamphetamine (HMMA) and 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA) in human plasma, sweat, oral fluid and urine. Since we did not achieve simultaneous enantioseparation of all 4 compounds with a single chiral column, two amylose-based chiral columns were used alternatively...

BACKGROUND: Compounding solid oral dosage forms into liquid preparations is a common practice for administering drug therapy to patients with swallowing difficulties. This is particularly relevant for those on enteral nutrition, where factors such as the administration procedure and co-administration of enteral nutrition play crucial roles in effective drug delivery. Due to the limited studies focused on this practice, the impact of co-administered nutrition remains unclear. METHODS: Pravastatin tablets were compounded into two liquid formulations and administered through three independent tubes for ten cycles...

BACKGROUND: Hyaluronic acid liquid-core hydrogel beads (HA-LHB) is a good way for oral intake of HA. However, HA may affect the reaction-diffusion of SA and Ca2+ leading to poor mechanical properties, since HA is a polyanionic electrolyte having electrostatic effect and a certain spatial site-blocking effect. RESULTS: In the present study, the mechanical properties of HA-LHB were modified from bathing solution, core solution, secondary calcium bath time. The mechanical properties varied with the SA structure and concentration in bathing solution, where SA with high G (Guluronic acid) segment compounded with SA with high M segment (Mannuronic acid) at a mass ratio of 7:3 with a 11 g/kg concentration showed the best mechanical properties...

The heterogeneous photodegradation behavior of liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) in standard dust (standard reference material, SRM 2583) and environmental dust was investigated. The measured photodegradation ratios for 23 LCMs in SRM and environmental dust in 12 h were 11.1 ± 1.8 to 23.2 ± 1.1% and 8.7 ± 0.5 to 24.0 ± 2.8%, respectively. The degradation behavior of different LCM compounds varied depending on their structural properties. A quantitative structure-activity relationship model for predicting the degradation ratio of LCMs in SRM dust was established, which revealed that the molecular descriptors related to molecular polarizability, electronegativity, and molecular mass were closely associated with LCMs' photodegradation...
