OBJECTIVE: An illustrative review of the indications for relugolix combination therapy (RCT) in the management of symptoms associated with uterine myomatosis. METHODS: A set of annotated case reports from outpatient and clinical practice. RESULTS: The file includes a non-invasive methodology for defining excessive menstrual bleeding using the pictorial bleeding assessment chart (PBAC). It also presents the use of RCT as a fertility-sparing procedure prior to elective myomectomy and the management of isthmic fibroids as an uterine factor of infertility...

Villar's nodule is a rare presentation of endometriosis. Only a few cases report coexistence with uterine fibroids and infertility. We report an incidental discovery of a bleeding umbilical lesion confirmed as Villar's nodule in a 37-year-old woman with primary infertility who presented for myomectomy on account of leiomyomas.

An Endocrine Disrupting Chemical (EDC) is any compound that disrupts the function of the endocrine system in humans and is ubiquitous in the environment either as a result of natural events or through anthropogenic activities. Bisphenol A, phthalates, parabens, pesticides, triclosan, polychlorinated biphenyls, and heavy metals, which are frequently found in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and packaging sectors, are some of the major sources of EDC pollutants. EDCs have been identified to have a deteriorating effect on the female reproductive system, as evidenced by the increasing number of reproductive disorders such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure, menstrual irregularity, menarche, and infertility...

During a year, myomas may undergo radical changes in their dimensions - from decreasing by 90% to growing by 200%. On average, myomas of the uterus increase in volume by 20-30% annually in the premenopausal period. On the other hand, myomas regress spontaneously in about 20% of women. After menopause uterine fibroids stabilize or regress. Every new or growing lesion of the uterus after menopause has to be diagnosed. There is no general definition of fast growing uterine myoma. The presence of fast growing uterine myoma, regardless of its definition, is associated with some clinical issues: it may become symptomatic (pain, bleeding, bulk symptoms), may be responsible for infertility, and a malignant process (leiomyosarcoma) may be present...

The effect of the intramural fibroids not distorting the cavity remains controversial on implantation and pregnancy. The aim of this study was to examine the impact of non-cavity distorting intramural fibroids on endometrium. Fifty-six women with non-cavity distorting intramural fibroid were recruited in this study. Paired endometrial specimens, one from beneath the fibroid (ipsilateral endometrium) and the other from the opposite side of uterine cavity, away from the fibroid (contralateral endometrium) were obtained 7-9 days after the luteinizing hormone surge in a natural cycle...

Uterine leiomyomas, or fibroids, are the most common benign tumours of the female genital tract. Although uterine fibroids are commonly associated with menorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, symptomatic anaemia, urinary or bowel symptoms and infertility, intra-abdominal haemorrhage is an exceedingly rare complication. Often, the diagnosis is poorly recognizable based on the patient's clinical presentation and alternative diagnoses such as ruptured ectopic pregnancy, ruptured ovarian cyst or perforated viscus are frequently considered...

Fibroids are benign tumours of the myometrium and are the most common gynaecologic abnormality. Although most fibroids are asymptomatic, they can cause symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, pressure complaints, and infertility. The association between fibroids and infertility has been debated for decades. It is generally acknowledged that the closer the fibroid is to the uterine cavity and the endometrium lining, the more unfavourable effect it might have on fertility, reducing the odds for successful implantation and gestation...

INTRODUCTION: Elderly women are believed to experience many risks associated with pregnancy. Literature fails to provide a clear consensus on the age group in which there is a rise in risk and pathophysiology contributing. 'Pregnancies over forty' are increasing in society, owing to changing lifestyles and sensibilities of youth and the advent of assisted reproductive techniques. In India, studies on elderly pregnant women above 40 years of age are lacking. The aim of this study is to assess these pregnancies, their course, obstetric and perinatal outcomes in women delivering above 40 years...

CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND: The prevalence of uterine fibroids is estimated to be approximately 80%. Fibroids can be associated with abnormal uterine bleeding, pressure symptoms, and infertility. Given this high prevalence, approximately 30,000 myomectomies are performed in the United States per year. Minimally invasive approaches are preferred, if feasible. The minimally invasive techniques include laparoscopic, robot-assisted, hysteroscopic, and mini-laparotomy. OBJECTIVE: To discuss the multiple techniques for optimizing the use of mini-laparotomy in minimally invasive myomectomy...

Primary uterine diverticula are a very rare congenital anomaly of the uterus with only 21 reported cases. Even rarer is the occurrence of primary cervical diverticula with only six cases reported so far. This is a unique case of a huge abdominopelvic mass arising from cervical fibroid around an infected cervical diverticulum. A 44 year-old, P4L4 came to the OPD with a eighteen weeks size abdomino-pelvic mass. She had a failed surgery 6 months back, attempted to remove the mass. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cervical diverticulum which possibly had a pus collection...

BACKGROUND: Fumarase deficiency is an autosomal recessive condition characterized by severe neurologic abnormalities due to homozygous mutations in the fumarate hydratase (FH) gene. Heterozygous carriers of FH mutations have increased risk of developing uterine fibroids that can be associated with hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer (HLRCC). The association between FH mutations and infertility remains uncertain. The objective of our study was to characterize the infertility diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes in women presenting to a fertility center who were found to be carriers of fumarase deficiency based on the presence of heterozygous FH mutations...

Uterine fibroids (UF) are common benign tumors in women. The course of UF is associated with troubling symptoms and the development of infertility and pregnancy pathology. Surgical treatment even implies hysterectomy, while pharmacological interventions are modestly effective. Classically, hypoxic metabolism is considered a hallmark of malignant tumor. However, the role of hypoxia-induced factor (HIF) is significant in benign tumors as well. Herein, we briefly review the basic biology of HIF-family proteins, outlining their possible roles in UF...

Autoimmune diseases manifest in genetically predisposed individuals exposed to certain triggers that aggravate immune dysfunction and result in an exacerbated immune response in the form of hyperactivity to both the humoral and cell-mediated response. The devastating reality apart from the severity of the disease is that multiple immune diseases could co-occur, increasing the patient's physical, psychological, and financial burden. Autoimmune diseases are utterly deranging. One of the dreadful autoimmune diseases is systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)...

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign neoplasm of the female pelvis and have a lifetime prevalence exceeding 80% among African American women and approaching 70% among Caucasian women. Approximately 50% of women with fibroids experience symptoms which can range from heavy menstrual bleeding and bulk-related symptoms such as pelvic pressure with bladder and bowel dysfunction to reproductive dysfunction (e.g., infertility or obstetric complications) and pain. The choice of treatment is primarily guided by the type of symptoms in the individual patient and whether they prefer to retain fertility...
