Using a microplate fluorimetric assay method, five fertilization treatments, i.e. no-fertilizer control (CK) , sole application of nitrogen (N), balanced application of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizer (NPK), application of pig manure (M), and combination of pig manure with balanced chemical fertilizer (MNPK) were selected to investigate the effects of different long-term fertilization regimes on the activity of five enzymes (β-1, 4-glucosidase, βG; cellobiohydrolase, CBH; β-1, 4-xylosidase, βX; β-1, 4-N-acetylglucosaminidase, NAG; acid phosphatase, AP) in a red soil sampled from Qiyang, Hunnan Province...

By using space series to replace time series, this paper studied the relationships between the vegetation characteristics and soil properties at different restoration stages on the slope land with purple soils in Hengyang of Hunnan Province South-central China. There existed obvious differences in the soil physical and chemical properties at different restoration stages. From grassplot, grass-shrub, shrub to shrub-arbor, the soil organic matter, total and available N, and moisture contents increased markedly, soil bulk density had an obvious decrease, soil total and available P contents changed little, and soil pH decreased gradually, but no significant differences were observed among different restoration stages...

Taking the 10-, 23-, and 45-year-old Pinus massoniana plantations in Huitong of Hunnan Province as test objects and with the parameters nutrient content per unit needle mass, nutrient content per unit needle length, and nutrient content of single needle, the nutrient contents and resorption characteristics in the needles of different age P. massoniana before and after withering were studied. The results showed that after withering, the mass of single needle, length of single needle, and mass per unit needle length were decreased by 15...

N'-[2-(2-Thiophene)ethyl]-N'-[2-(5bromopyridyl)]thiourea (CAS 258340-15-7, HI-443) is a potent non-nucleoside inhibitor of HIV reverse transcriptase (NNRTI) that was rationally designed as a candidate anti-HIV agent. The purpose of the present study was to examine the in vivo pharmacokinetics, metabolism, toxicity, and anti-HIV activity of HI-443. HI-443 was very well tolerated in CD-1 mice and Lewis rats without any detectable toxicity at single parenteral bolus dose levels as high as 80 mg/kg. Intraperitoneally administered HI-443 exhibited anti-HIV activity in the Hu-PBL-SCID mouse surrogate model for hunnan AIDS at a non-toxic daily dose level of 10-20 mg/kg...
