Invasive mucormycosis in immunocompromised children is a life-threatening fungal infection. We report a case of a 7-year-old girl treated for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia complicated by disseminated mucormycosis during induction therapy. Microscopic examination of surgically removed lung tissue revealed wide, pauci-septate hyphae suggesting a Mucorales infection. Mucormycoses are opportunistic fungal infections with a high mortality rate. Rhizopus oryzae is the most common agent implicated in human infections. We report 3 cases of post-traumatic cutaneous mucormycosis caused by Lichtheimia corymbifera, two of them occurring after a farm working accident. Management of post-traumatic mucormycoses consists of a wide excision of the infected tissue, combined with immediate antifungal therapy.
