Metronidazole (MNZ), a commonly used antibiotic, poses risks to water bodies and human health due to its potential carcinogenic, mutagenic, and genotoxic effects. In this study, mesoporous cobalt-manganese layered double hydroxides (Cox Mny -LDH) with abundant oxygen vacancies (Ov ) were successfully synthesized using the co-precipitation method and used to activate calcium sulfite (CaSO3 ) with slight soluble in water for MNZ degradation. The characterization results revealed that Co2 Mn-LDH had higher specific areas and exhibited good crystallinity...

Replacing cement with industrial by-products is an important way to achieve carbon neutrality in the cement industry. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of eggshell powder on cement hydration properties, and to evaluate its feasibility as a substitute for cement. The substitution rates of eggshell powder are 0%, 7.5%, and 15%. Studying the heat of hydration and macroscopic properties can yield the following results. First: The cumulative heat of hydration based on each gram of cementitious material falls as the eggshell powder content rises...

The utilization of intracanal medicaments is an indispensable procedure in root-canal treatment. However, the conventional intracanal medicaments still need improvement regarding antimicrobial efficacy and ease of clinical operation. To address the above issues, OCT/PECT@OCT + ALK composite hydrogel characterized by programming sequential release of dual antimicrobial agents has been proposed. Thanks to the self-assemble ability of amphiphilic copolymer poly(ε-caprolactone-co-1,4,8-trioxa [4.6]spiro-9-undecanone)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone-co-1,4,8-trioxa[4...

BACKGROUND: In cases of tooth avulsion, in which the neurovascular bundle responsible for nourishing the dental pulp is break, endodontic treatment is necessary before proceeding with tooth replantation. In this process, various substances have been tested in combination with calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2 in an attempt to improve its effectiveness. This study aimed to examine the effects of using a mixture of Ca(OH)2 and 10% propolis, with subsequent application of ultrasonic treatment, on the delayed replantation of teeth in rats...

The therapeutic efficacy of Fenton or Fenton-like nanocatalysts is usually restricted by the inappropriate pH value and limited concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) at the tumor site. Herein, calcium carbonate (CaCO3 )-mineralized cobalt silicate hydroxide hollow nanocatalysts (CSO@CaCO3 , CC) were synthesized and loaded with curcumin (CCC). This hybrid system can simultaneously realize nanocatalytic therapy, chemotherapy and calcium overload. With the stabilization of liposomes, CCC is able to reach the tumor site smoothly...

The title mol-ecule, C12 H15 NO5 , is a methyl carbamate derivative obtained by reacting ( R )-2-phenyl-glycinol and methyl chloro-formate, with calcium hydroxide as heterogeneous catalyst. Supra-molecular chains are formed in the [100] direction, based on N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the amide and carboxyl-ate groups. These chains weakly inter-act in the crystal, and the phenyl rings do not display significant π-π inter-actions.

Sediment contamination by heavy metals is a pressing environmental concern. While in situ metal stabilization techniques have shown promise, a great challenge remains in the simultaneous immobilization of multi-metals co-existing in contaminated sediments. This study aims to address this challenge by developing a practical method for stabilizing multi-metals by hydroxyapatite and calcium peroxide (HAP/CaO2 ) dosing strategies. Results showed that dosing 15.12 g of HAP/CaO2 at a ratio of 3:1 effectively transformed labile metals into stable fractions, reaching reaction kinetic equilibrium within one month with a pseudo-second-order kinetic (R2  > 0...

AIM AND OBJECTIVE: The present case report aims to describe the nonsurgical management of an anterior tooth with a blunderbuss canal and an open apex using mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) under magnification. BACKGROUND: When pulp is traumatized before root formation, it results in pulpal necrosis, due to which dentin and root formation are interrupted. As a result, the canal remains broad due to thin and fragile dentin walls leading to the open apex. Therefore, root canal treatment is a big challenge currently...

The low mechanical strength of a low-calcium fly ash (FA)-red mud (RM) geopolymer severely limits its application. Steel slag (SS) and Ca(OH)2 can provide calcium and alkali for the hydration process of a low-calcium FA-based geopolymer. In this study, SS was used to replace part of the RM, and Ca(OH)2 was introduced. The effects of SS and Ca(OH)2 on the properties of the FA-RM geopolymer were investigated. The experimental results show that SS promoted the matrix to generate more C(N)-A-S-H and C-S-H gels and optimized the pore structure, thereby improving the mechanical properties of the FA-based geopolymer...

Fermented fish bone residue (FFBR) is an underused by-product of the industrial-scale production of fermented fish sauce. Subjecting FFBR to proper alkaline treatment can transform FFBR into biocalcium, which can be added to fish emulsion sausage (FES) to increase its calcium content. This study comprised two experiments. First, we aimed to find the most suitable alkaline treatment conditions for preparing biocalcium from FFBR. Periapical lesions were experimentally induced in 35 mature beagle dog premolars randomly divided into healthy teeth, untreated periapical lesions, periapical lesions treated in a single session (control groups), and periapical lesions treated in two sessions with EGCG or calcium hydroxide-based pastes (experimental groups)...
